A330Crazy,
Websites can be deceiving. If you search on Yahoo or other search engines for LionAir, you will discover some information regarding this airline. As Ren Frew said, there are many reports about the airline like its proposed Shorts Belfast operations. If you look at some of the other airlines the person in question has been involved with (Caledonian Wings for example); you will see an emerging pattern. While I am only basing my opinion on information over the Internet, I do not see this airline taking to the skies.
I’m looking forward to seeing the ATR when I go on my spotting trip, last year I saw the Dornier which was a nice surprise. I think the new colour scheme is good, I really like the dragon, however, I think it needs some green.
By the way, when do the LCY flights begin?
As I have said, the Embraer 170 and 175s are most likely to be US Airways main choice and will probably be ran mainline. Based on Greekdude’s analysis on what the airlines are doing, I think this strategy is a pretty good idea and is somewhat near US Airways’ former operational status in the early 1990s and will make probably some operations more viable compared with your average 737 or A320.
Kiss Air is an old one, been around for ages. Seems like another MAMA in my eyes….
Aviddriver,
Exactly what I was implying. Look at Tampa and Milan, the aircraft did hardly any damage to the buildings infrastructure with minor casualties. I think the aircraft landing at O’Hare (Chicago’s main airport) are more of a threat to security.
Looking on a commercial viewpoint here, London City Airport and Toronto City are just as close to major city buildings as Meigs and take larger aircraft and so are larger threats to security, yet we here nothing of these closing. Therefore, in my opinion, it is just a load of lies with the real reasons stemming from the Mayor’s own personal opinion and ideas for the Chicago Downtown area and Meigs.
As I have said on ALW, this is an absolute disgrace and the security is just a bag of lies from a Mayor who has wanted to rid the city of Chicago of this airport for years pre 9/11, so it is an utter joke.
The airport would possess no threat really in terms of security as technically what damage could a Cessna do without warning compared to that of a 757 heading to Midway or O’Hare? It is just lies on the Mayor’s behalf, who I suppose must just want it for another park to place in the Downtown Chicago area!
The fact he did it at night shows a weak and cowardly man and I hope legal action is taken because he did not even warn the FAA let alone the pilots and ATC who were left stranded.
Well I never see the Fokker 50 much no more when it used to be a real common one over here. I guess Channel Express operate the Fokker 27 here.
On another subject, who currently is the ERA airline of the year?
Haha, ok. I guess it was best not to pull something as controversial as last year!

What will happen to those new Airbus aircraft?
Hmmm, this is disgraceful. As an FS flier I have fond memories of my first Cessna flight from Meigs and my first attempted 737 landing :p
How long have they planned to close Meigs? Seems a poor excuse that it is a threat to security….I’m sure many people will start a petition.
IKBrunel,
When did you travel VLM? From a spotters point of view they are one of my favourite airlines considering it is rare to see a Fokker 50 in the UK nowadays.
I think Comet was also flying VLM to Antwerp a while back?
I really am surprised you did not pull off something like last year Kabir :p

Embraer all the way I would guess…
