    RE: What About this?

I assume this is to do with the Airtran order?
It is true Boeing should listen more to the customer and pay careful attention to their customers needs rather than taking a product and forcing it upon an airline who don’t want it. However, the truth is if Boeing built the 717-300 just for one customer it is very possible it could hurt Boeing like the first 717 did. Sure a company may want a new aircraft but the question should be asked why should Boeing make one aircraft for one company? It doesn’t make sense.

Yes the last mass-produced Beech 1900 was delivered last year because airline demand for the aircraft has dropped in favour of regional jets. Really can you blame them though? They are faster, larger, smoother and passengers prefer them because they feel safer.

RE: Shuttle lost (blows up?) on re-entry

    [updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-02-03 AT 05:31 PM (GMT)]Kev35,

This is an obvious problem if NASA were to stop all launches. However, from what I know of the ISS, the astronauts have an emergency shuttle craft in the station. In the events of an emergancy this craft would be used.
At the moment I think the people on the station have enough supplies to last them until another shuttle is sent up by America or the Russians.

An unbelievable situation. This is a black day for NASA and the world. My prayers are with the families and friends who now have to come to terms with an almost unimaginable tragedy.

    RE: Short-haul turboprops

1- Yes I agree the Dash 8. The aircraft combines advanced technology, superior design features and very fuel-efficient turbine engines to provide the ruggedness, reliability and performance required in the short-haul, high-frequency regional airline environment.

2- I flew on the Fokker 27 around 10 years ago on Air UK. It is a good little aircraft, which has proved popular because it is very dependable and has reasonable operating costs, thus it is very cost efficient. The aircraft does look quite old nowadays but I just love the sound of the engines (a unique sound compared to many TP aircraft around today).

3- The Beech is a commuter workhorse that has been quite popular with commuter airlines. I have not travelled on it so I can’t really comment, but from what I have heard many people do not enjoy travelling on it.

4- I think the most popular TP aircraft at the moment is the Dash 8 with over 400 flying all over the world. However, at one point it was the F.27 with just under 600 produced.

Yup it does look very nice especially with the SA logo, but I have to agree it is not as good looking as I expected it to be.

The 146’s were never a good idea for low cost operations…

Yeah it is good but maybe a lighter blue and I agree the lower blue should not of been cut off so abruptly.

That is very bitchy….that surely is the worst comment they could possibly make. What were they thinking, seems like they are really desperate.
I think maybe Boeing could of seen in coming? It seems to me as if Iberia had already decided to go all Airbus.
