    RE: Travel To Northern Cyprus

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 21-01-03 AT 06:11 PM (GMT)]Apologies, but this is no attempt at a flame topic, I am very much serious. I have been looking through holiday brochures and via the internet and I have to say it looks beautiful.
There seem to be many hotels and it looks like it has some very nice tourist areas like Kyrenia? Do you really advise me not to go there?

I am aware of the political reasons why I should not go there, but having talked to a few people, they say it is beautiful and a complete contrast between the southern areas and is a very cheap place to go. Thus can it really be that bad?

Thankyou for your help so far…

What an unpleasant and uncomfortable idea. There are some certain nasty things that come to mind about flying in the nude…I guess it can only happen in America!

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 20-01-03 AT 06:55 PM (GMT)]Based on your opinions Wysiwyg, I shall start taking Flybe….

Well I can’t complain about the ‘all day deli’, as it has been tasty enough and was a lot more than I had experienced before on any BA domestic flight.
However, I would prefer a proper cup of tea served in a proper cup (those polystyrene cups are awful). I don’t like the idea of the bags as they seem quite hostile and when the cabin crew give them out it seems like they shove it in your face which gives me a this or nothing feeling, compared to a nice laid out tray where everything is visible. Overall it seems a bit too American orientated to me.

Yes I am actually surprised the low cost airlines have neglected Santiago. The city has a wide catchment area that extends to places like Oviedo and León and also south to Vigo and the boarder of Portugal. The population of these areas and also the sustainable leisure travel all year round would definitely pose Santiago as a low cost destination. I know Iberia operate into Heathrow, but as shown by GO at Bilboa, you can carve a totally new market out of an area.

    RE: 737 Family

Boeing is unlikely to go bankrupt, I don’t know how you could think of such an idea. They are currently in a position where they do not know what to do next because of world economies, turmoil in the aviation industry and the status of Airbus. For many years Boeing could sit back and watch the orders roll in but now because of competition, they are no longer an airlines number 1 choice and Boeing has to slowly adapt to this new reality. As Kabir said, don’t take Boeing for granted they will be back with a new product don’t you worry.

Boeing in the future will continue improving the efficiency of all its lines, but particularly the 737, which it relies on as it best selling aircraft and until the tides turn and the 737 looses popularity, they will continue producing the aircraft. You never know…there may be a 737-900ER

The 787 is already on the cards and looks more promising than their concept designs…

Yes Wysiwyg…maybe they can try land the 737 on the Barclay Brothers helipad on Brecqhou!

Andrewm, Herm is the 5th largest of the Channel Islands (half a mile long and half a mile wide) It is owned by a family who allow tourists to come and stay on the island.

RE: Air Austral Expands Service with Two New Boeing 777s

For Air Austral the acquisition of two 777s is quite a leap in capacity and aircraft types. Never have they operated anything larger than a 737 nor any destination longer than Africa, so it must be quite a risk taking on such large aircraft to start long haul flights.
However, the market between Reunion and Paris is quite lucrative with Air Lib, Air France and Corsair already serving Reunion from Paris. Also with connections to the Comoros and other Indian Ocean islands, I am confident the 777 will be quite a success for them.

RE: BA LGW-GCI news for Saab 2000

EGNM, when new independent domestic carriers are set up in the next few years to fill the void left by BA’s regional insufficiency, I think we will all be laughing. The truth is small and independent carriers are the future of regional airports if they want to sustain their domestic services as they have the city/airport/island at heart in their priorities. So I hope we can go back to the heyday of carriers like Brymon, Cityflyer and Manx.

Anyway, we have to remember BA got itself into this mess by merging all the subsidiaries into one-Citiexpress. They took profitable companies and forced them into one bad managed, unorganised company and made a loss.

    RE: London City Airways?

It was merged into BD in November 1990. That flashy livery must of made the Dash 7’s feel right at home in London’s business airport.
