RE: That ship in the Channel has been hit again!

Strange as it may seem the cargo ship was carrying water ballast (according to thisisguernsey.com)

“bit bladdy dangerous having rocks on you back door innit ?, some-one could come to grief on them !”
Yes it is dangerous, but I am a peculiar guy who gains much pleasure in the misfortune and anguish of others. Yes, yes, I know, it is rather uncanny, however, placing rocks outside my back door was the only way I could go about satisfying my grotesque pastime }>
Seriously, I mean the rocks of the western coast of Guernsey…I should explain myself more clearly before people come to bizarre conclusions.
Kabir:
The accidents in the Channel are like buses, none come for a while then out of the blue two or more come at once!
RE: That ship in the Channel has been hit again!
Rather coincidental, I was just talking about vessels being involved in accidents in the Channel then today I wake up to the news that a Dutch ship carrying 200 tonnes of water ballast came ashore on to rocks on my back door.Hahaha, what were the odds?

RE: Where was I ?
And to think I was going to put Puerto Princesa down!
RE: Delta
No the 717 can hardly be called a success, but without a doubt the 717 has the clear advantage. They’ve delivered 100 jets, and have shown reliability with the few airlines they fly with.
The problem with the SAS 736 was that it turns out to be a lot more expensive to operate than expected, with the fuel consumption. Also the combination of the wings (the span is longer than the length of the fuselage) and an inadequate yaw damper results in poor flight characteristics in cruise. Many passengers and even flight attendants have been sick. There are also great costs with maintenance of the whole 737 fleet in SAS, there is a problem of corrosion in the main gear wheel.
RE: Another EGNM press release
Mama Air is based at Manston right?
RE: Superstition in airlines
American West don’t offer a row 13. I think not offering row 13 is getting old. In the past airlines did not offer row 13 seats, but have since decided to throw superstition to the wind.
RE: Where was I ?
Zamboanga?
RE: Easyatlantic
Luton-Maine?The route has been rumoured before by another airline. I suspect it would mean a link up with another low cost American airline so EZY can offer flights across the country.
RE: Where was I ?
Was the 733 of Philipines and in summer would of been operated by an A330?
The LET 410 of Seair?
The 732 Air Philippines?
Therefore it is Cebu- Mactan International?

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 02-01-03 AT 02:54 PM (GMT)]The conditions in the Channel are extremelty bad at the moment (Force 8/9 locally 10 towards 6pm) and missing the stricken vessel is probably easier said than done.
The Channel is notorious for accidents being one of the busiest shipping channels in the world. The last major accident I can remember was a ship catching fire or in 2000 the Ivolie Sun sinking off Alderney.Having said that,in the southern channel (IOW, Portland, Cherbourg, C.I.) it is fabulous to see all the ships crossing while flying over or when you come across on the Channel ferries, there are countless numbers of ships passing through.
Interestingly, the ship is supposed to be brought up by the same team who salvaged the Estonia and the Herald of Free Enterprise.

RE: Easyatlantic
Just EZYs lawyers trying to clamp down on people wanting to use the ‘Easy’ brand. Seems sensible to protect their interests wisely for the future. If they are considering crossing the pond I doubt it will be for a long time.
RE: Where was I ?
Manila?
RE: Delta
The 737-600 is not being considered because of certain problems other airlines are having with the aircraft. Also the A318 and the 736 are complete flops.
It seems rational then that they order the 717. It fits in to their fleet rather well and are good replacements for the MD88/MD90 and also the 732.
