RE: Indonesian Airlines recieves first 747-300.

Ex-Singapore I belive. Brought into the the fleet for the Hadj flights and should be staying with the airline.
This is not a new colour scheme for Garuda (as some may think) It is a new airline who also operate the 737-300.
Colour scheme is average, however, for a new airline I doubt they are really concerned about extravagant colourings.

RE: That ship in the Channel has been hit again!

Actually there has been around four other near misses of the Tricolor. Sadly this new ship colliding with the sunken vessel was just unlucky. With the conditions in the channel missing it would of been easier said than done.

    RE: a simple trip?

Shopping at the North Terminal is good. There are a lot less tacky shops and the terminal is brighter and much more airier. The café that looks over the gates and towards the west of the apron is also very good. Enjoy your trip.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-01-03 AT 10:56 AM (GMT)]Just some other flights I know about to the Scottish Isles:

Bmi fly the ERJ 145 from Edinburgh to Stornoway.

IAC (Integrated Aviation Consortium) use a BAe 146 from Flightline to provide support flights to Sumburgh for oil work.Anybody have details on that?

Highland Airways operate the J31 and the Cessna F406 for passenger and cargo flights to the Isles.

    RE: Airbus Versus Boeing

I disagree with you MINIDOH. I think there is an area in the market for an aircraft with a capacity of up to 180 to 250 passengers. The 787 will hopefully phase out the earlier versions of the 757 and 767 due to ailing sales of these aircraft and also for airlines wanting to replace these aircraft. A new design really can give competition to the A330 and for airlines hoping to replace the A300/A310.

I think the 787 is on the cards for 2008 after the scrapping of the Sonic Cruiser.

RE: CAL confirms jet purchases from Airbus and Boeing

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 29-12-02 AT 01:23 PM (GMT)]Selsport69, only in a perfect world would no airline be pressured into buying from a particular country.

What you must remember is that CAL is government owned and Taiwan, where CAL is based, depends on military support from the USA, therefore, the US can have a say in whether CAL buy European or American.

For CAL to buy totally European it seems to be snubbing Boeing and an insult to the US after they provided Taiwan with military cover. So I really can see nothing wrong with the US exerting political pressure to buy American on nations that receive substantial foreign aid and military backup. Is it not right that they should be willing to reinvest money back into the American economy? Noting the amount of money the US gives to them

Political manoeuvrings are definitely a factor in many large export businesses and in the aviation market it is no different.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 28-12-02 AT 04:41 PM (GMT)]In my opinion cloning is an infringement of the sanctity of human life. It takes away the uniqueness and identity of every person. It also demotes and de-values human life as we know it. Cloning a human clearly crosses the boundaries into the world of curiosity, which if pursued could lead to inappropriate and dangerous results; thus I think it should be banned. However, I doubt any ban could stop any elite group of people using this procedure for dangerous acts.

I would only ask people who do not agree with my opinions to spare a thought for the emotions of the cloned child and the discrimination it will face in modern day society. What will it read on the birth certificate under father? “Cloned”?
