Cheers Slipper,
That’s very decent of you.
I am in Kent if you are local and it is easier to meet up?
Regards
Gerry
Cheers Slippers,
Now I’m going to push my luck!
Any chance I could accept your offer and ask for higher quality copies of these to be sent to my email address given in my last post?
I would love to see anything you have on both airmen.
Thanks for your willingness to share these and apologies for congratulating you on your good fortune. It is clear now that the death of your mother and your fathers current condition are not fortunate in any way.
Gerry
Hi Slippers,
Alternatively you can mail them to me at gedburke3@yahoo.co.uk and I will upload them for you. ;0)
Cheers
Gerry
Sorry gents,
I don’t have part two, I have only just discovered part one!! ;0)
My knowledge re Battle of Britain clasps is not good.
I generally rely on someone far more knowledgable who has helped me in the past.
Gerry
Slippers,
There are much better qualified people on this forum to advise you re the value of Battle of Britain groups but as a rough guide:-
£500 for the DFC group and £300 for the Doughty group.
Only joking!!
£6000-8000 for the DFC group.
£3-4000 for the other group.
These prices assume that all the medals, clasps etc are genuine.
If I had been as lucky as you I would keep them.
Their historical value and the pleasure of owning them is far more significant than a few quid in the bank.
Enjoy them
Gerry
No problem,
You could share the luck by posting a photo of George Waller and Neville Doughty if there are any with the paperwork!
Neither have pictures in the current edition of Men of the Battle and it would be good to put that right.
Cheers
Gerry
You jammy beggar!!
I wish I could be that fortunate.
Gerry
Hi,
I would suggest phoning and asking to speak / leave a message for David Brocklehurst.
He has assisted me in the past.
The museum does rigourously employ a ‘no camera’ policy but I guess that’s in response to past experiences.
Either way, I would make contact and take it from there.
Gerry
Hi,
In that case all I can definitively add is that on 25th February 41 the CO R L Smith flew N3319 to North Coates with Sergeant Bayliss as his gunner to partcipate in what he describes as a ‘forward Blitz aerodrome exercise’. they returned to Kirton afterwards.
He had previously flown to North Coates on the 14 feb to plan the exercise.
There are no further trips to North Coates in his logbook whilst with 255 squadron.
Gerry

Hi Tony,
Great link, many thanks for placing it here.
Those pictures from Malta are great.
Gerry
Hi,
The link isn’t working for me either.
Also, is this the second batch of pictures?
Gerry
Dear all,
Many thanks for your replies and advice regarding its use.
I have still not been able to locate a picture of one in use which is a shame.
I suspect from the aircraft listed that it dates from 1939/40.
Cheers
Gerry
Hi Tim,
Those are great photographs!
I love the first one showing the 1 squadron formation with the spits of 266 behind.
Are you able to put a date on it?
Gerry
Hi all,
It has just been pointed out to me that the date could be 1955.
It certainly looks like Baders handwriting.
