Hi Charlie
Well put as well!
Glad to see you are back mate.
Gerry
Dear all,
I have spoken to Andy this morning to offer him support.
He is disappointed with the decision to ban him.
He believes that all three have been treated exceptionally shoddily and harshly under the circumstances. He believes that he has broken no rules, and posted nothing that is defamatory or libelous in any way. However, They have been told that the ban is permanent and will never be lifted.
Andy believes that the information he posted was already in the public domain and available on the internet. He merely drew attention to those facts and asked some probing questions. Mark 12 merely made statements of absolute fact.
Yes I agree as well. Bring back the ‘forum 3’ and free speech.
A forum is a place where people can discuss their view on a subject.
That doesn’t mean we all have to agree – in fact for a forum to work correctly it is more important that we don’t!!
Why don’t those complaining come on and contribute to the threads?
They would get more respect for that.
Finally, if this relates to the Burmese Spitfires, I suspect few would be more pleased than Peter Arnold and Andy Saunders to see this project come to fruition.
Gerry
Hi Ian,
I think I have a photograph taken at Northolt with KW-K in the background.
Unfortunately I won’t be able to check until I return home this evening.
If I do I will post it here for you.
Gerry

Hi all,
I know this picture well. I have seen books identifying the pilot as Christopher Riddle of 601 squadron as well as Glendon Bulmer Booth.
I will post a copy here when i get home.
Gerry
Hi,
Yes Andy is correct.
That is most definitely Squadron Leader Joceleyn G P Millard.
The picture was taken just after he joined 1 Squadron at Wittering.
Gerry
Hi Robdd1,
I have the image from ancestry from the royal aero club thanks.
You have come up trumps with Kirkcolm though for which I am extremely grateful.
I have now managed to find a copy of the register of his death online and can go about ordering aa copy death certificate.
I am deeply indebted to you.
Many thanks
Gerry
Hi robdd1 and Geoff,
Many thanks for your replies.
I purchased Whittinghams medals from DNW’s with a view to completing research into him.
I have managed to make contact with the family who can’t assist really as Whittingham died so long ago that family members from that era are no longer around. They were not able to tell me where he is buried which was a shame as I wanted to place flowers on his grave.
They were able to provide a good photograph of him which was much appreciated.
I went to Malta in April to try and research his service with 261 Squadron. Unfortunately very little is available regarding 261 squadron but I collated what i could.
Geoff, Hi, hope you are good. I recall that I followed up this Oxford link before but failed to locate the district in Oxford where his death was registered and subsequently couldn’t obtain a death certificate to forward to RAF records.
Once again many thanks for your efforts on my behalf which is appreciated.
Gerry
Hi Dave,
The book has not been published yet, although the plans to release it are still intact.
There is a large amount of new information and this has all had to be checked and verified, as well as the search for pictures etc.
It will be worth waiting for though.
Gerry
Hi Jerry,
Normally I would agree.
However i think you would feel differently if you saw the log book.
The AHB records are reliable as well.
Gerry
Hi all,
I have been fortunate to assist Ken Wynn and the Fighter Association with the new edition of Men of the Battle of Britain.
I have been asked to post the following statement.
“The Battle of Britain Memorial trust (following discussions with Air historical branch(RAF) and the Battle of Britain Fighter Association) will not be putting Squadron Leader Kimlicka in the new edition of Wynn3.”
Having seen the pictures of the log book entry and comparing it to records of other 310 squadron personnel that I have I can see why they have come to this decision.

Malta visit
Hi all,
I have returned for my Malta trip.
I was only there for three days but still managed to cram a lot in!
Unfortunately my pc has crashed and is away being repaired.
As soon as it returns I will post some pictures.
I went to see most of the places that were recommended here and thoroughly enjoyed them all.
I ate at the Valletta band club as recommended. The maltese people were very accommodating and nothing was too much trouble.
I strongly recommend the cafe jubilee in St Lucia Street Valetta.
We ate there several times and the food and beer was superb.
Finally, can I thank the staff at the Malta aviation museum at Ta Qali and also the curator at the war museum in Valetta. They both allowed me to take pictures with their aircraft and Derek Whittinghams medals which was greatly appreciated.
Sadly, we missed the 70th anniversary of the award of the George cross by 1 day.
I plan to return later this year to conclude my research and can not wait.
Gerry
Cheers Paul,
I’ll give it a whirl.
Many thanks
Gerry
Hi Tim,
