Cheers Bruce,
I am always amazed at the depth of knowledge that is available on this forum:)
Not to mention the speed that the replies come. I owe you one.
Many thanks.

Spot on Andy.
I think Bill Bonds statement was as a result of a querie that came his way from the press regarding the production of this much talked about Tom Cruise film. It wasn’t a bold off the cuff statement that Fiskes contribution was completely negligible – however it is easy to see that it could perceived as such.
I recall speaking to a Battle of Britain vet (Gordon Parkin 501 squadron) a few years ago and he said to me:-
“I can’t claim to have shot any down – but I did shoot at them. I’d like to think they were half as scared of me as I was of them!”.

Billy Fiske/Bill Bond
Hi John,
I know Bill Bond reasonably well and can assure one and all that he admires Billy Fiske immensly.
I think that the sentence quoted has been taken out of context and therefore reads badly.
Bill Bond recently commisioned an oil painting of Billy Fiske landing his hurricane at Tangmere on the day he was sadly killed. The last I heard he was trying to get it to the mayor of Chicago with a view to raising Fiskes profile there.
He also spent a long while searching for people that had served with Fiske. One such person was Geoff Faulkner who helped get Billy Fiske out of his Hurricane that day and remembered the incident well.
cheers
Gerry
p.s The painting was by John Howard Wordsley and can be seen on line if you do a google search. Geoff Faulkner recalled that it is an accurate depiction of the events that day.
Hi Andy,
I wasn’t aware that you were in the process of putting a book together, though I did suspect you may be able to help.
There is no time entered in Joces log book.
I will mail you the details I have.
Gerry
Cheers Rocketeer,
I would be greatful for a picture if no one else posts one.
Thanks again
Gerry
Hi Fournier, I’ll give you £20.00 for it!!
You are a lucky man with that lot in your possession.
Many thanks for your replies,
Cees I have sent you a ‘pm’.

Just an idea?
What about if a group of well respected and known aviation archeologists set up a recognised organisation whereby the authenticity of relics was validated for a small premium. This validation could be mentioned by the seller in their ebay auction advert and would therefore attract buyers who could be confident that they were buying the real deal.
It would also stop relics such as the ones discussed previously attracting big bids as they would obviously not be authenticated as genuine.
Gerry
I’ve tried this week but unforunately others have more money!!
Could I please ask all forum users not to outbid gedburke3 😉
Dornier/109
Hi all,
Just noticed this thread and as an enthusiast that is new to this type of collecting, I feel it is a real shame that a great relic (Do17) has now been completely ruined.
I have bought items on ebay over the years and wonder how many of them are genuine, probably not many.
Gerry
Hi Mark,
I agree, almost certainly a mixture of instructor and pupil but when and where. so frustrating!!!!!!!!!!!!
Airman on the right of photo 4
Hi,
The airman on the right in photo 4 is 100% definately Frank Howell who flew with 609 in the Battle. He was tragically killed post war after being hit on the head by a wingtip of an aircraft he was filming landing.
Gerry
Many thanks for your responses.
The still photographs are great.
I thought that it had been filmed at Kenley when I saw the flight sequences but you are absolutely spot on with Ibsley.
Many tahnks once again
Gerry
Wow,
That would be great woudn’t it.
Have you any ideas which aircraft the pictures show?
Gerry
Cheers Walter,
Will give rootchat a go as well.
Thanks to everyone for their advice.
Hopefully I will be able to place a positive update soon.
