    Evening all, first post on the forum so be gentle…

    I seem to remember hearing that at the time the AH-1 was being ‘named’ there was some sort of litigation between the Army and Piper Aircraft Co, who also used tribal names for their aircraft.

    Hence the break in tradition.

    Its actually directly head on that Victors look most impressive, menacing is probably the better phrase.

    One from the front and one from the back, bonus points if you can figure out where these were taken.

    As a Cadet I spent a lot of time at Newton, shooting the old .303 and 7.62’s on the range and Air-Ex in the Chipmunks. Later I did my gliding scholarship RAF Syerston but was barracked at Newton, Friday to Sunday. One Saturday evening (1984’sh) Instead of going down the Naafi and playing the Battle Zone arcade machine, me and a mate went walking round the base and stumbled upon the missile museum and the Lightning. I’ll have a look through my slides later and see if I can find any shots.

    Forgive the intrusion on the thread I’m mainly a passive reader on the forum. But this week I discovered some old slides taken years ago, one of them being of G-AFFI. Quality is not very good but thought it may be of some interest.
