Congratulations to Alan for saving VV400!

Put VV400 into the search function in “Navigator”

Try searching the RAF Museum site as Robert suggests, but just put in EON GLIDERS and you get some more of VV400 taken at the Lasham Nationals of 1955.

I get annoyed with BBC South, everytime they have anything on regarding Spitfires they show a clip of a group of Miles Master 1’s crossing an airfield, it happens without fail. I shoul;d tell them one day I suppose.

I am surprised nobody has mentioned the E-Go project http://web.me.com/tony.bishop/e-Go/welcome.html
They are already building this, stall 33kts, cruise 120kts, vne 150kts on 40hp.
They do need sponsors so if any with a few million to spare they would be delighted to hear from you, better bet than buying a football club or race horse.

Despite its shortcomings, it was still the best bit of tele of the week, certainly until last night’s episode of Spooks.

Is this a compliment or insult!
I cant stand Spooks as you might guess.

I was there and so too were the Harriers, well I think it was the Harriers as the low cloud meant they were heard and not seen. Something did a couple of runs over the top and even the Heli,s didnt show.

    Ooops!
It happens though. Nothing unique to the A380 it should be stressed.

If it was an uncontained failure that dislodged the cowl then I think it is very significant event, and certainly not common.

Looks like a Miles Master III to me.

No its definately a Harvard, the Master had a centre section with a distinct amount of dihedral, as well as being very thick compared to the Harvards thinner/flatter centre section.

In my view Russia has been the country that has seen the most complete, interesting and varied crash sites in the last 20 years.
Unsure whats left but something must be.

DK290 was fitted with a tailplane with 10degrees of dihedral in June 42 to try and cure instability with heavy bomb loads. The standard tail was still better though. W4050 was fitted with the small no1 tailplane and then later the no2 larger span one but what the span was I dont know.

Do you mean the white/yellowish triangular splodge on the fuel tank cover?

My thoughts? A tag (or whatever it’s properly called) for the fuel type to be used (you generally see them aft of the cockpit on the Bf109…)

Yes thats it, I thought it stood proud but on further looking it is probably a coloured splodge.

What is it that appears to be mounted on the Spitfire upper fuselage in front of the cockpit, just aft of the engine cowl. Could it be some sort of rear facing camara mount?

I have always wondered whether the Wyvern would have been a better aircraft if RR had sorted the Eagle rather than going through the woes of getting the Python working, the fuel burn would have been much lower for a start.
    We will never know.
