Regardless if MOL makes these comments or not, he’s garnering a reputation as something of a d*ck.
Will you ever stop making us so jealous!
Not just yet…

Only if your in it for the long haul then ? 😀 😀 😀
Wanna play cards ?
I’m just trying to put this bloody argument to the sword once and for all. Gawd it goes on and on and on. :p
I’m just sick of hearing that GLA is the best and preferred airport. IT ISN’T
I’m not saying that either Sandy, GLA as you know has the infrastructure to better handle larger planes, EDI has the business clientele to support more direct scheduled short haul flights. If you want to know why these airports don’t yet have the complete package then look towards BAA and their insistence on keeping LHR as it’s major and over congested hub.
It’s got nothing to do with GLA versus EDI, as much as it’s got nothing to do with Newcastle, Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham, Luton Stansted, Cardiff, Belfast or any other UK regional airport.
I agree, both airports a good at what they currently do. Each has it merits, my only gripe is that edi has the potential to be more, but is being kept back by the dreaded men in suites.
Every so called rival airport has the potential to do more Sandy. PIK has the best potential of any in Scotland, the longest runway, the most space, the best climate, a truly glorious part in Scottish aviation history.
Unfortunately politics as ever comes into play, We ought to consider ourselves extremely lucky in a country of under 6 million people to have so many places to fly from and to. I prefer to champion the cases for all of our airports, after all it gives us spotting alternatives if nothing else, and correct me if I’m wrong but aren’t we supposed to be aviation enthusiasts ?
I like nothing better than a drive to EDI to meet you guys, or a drive to PIK to see the cargo freighters call in. I equally love visiting the unique sights at GLA, ABZ, DND and everywhere else.
So what’s the point in the this small mindedness, I ask you ? If you’re falling for it then you’re smaller men than I took you for.
Well in this instance the culprit was GLAsgow. I am happy to keep a ‘neutral’ stance. 🙂 As long as others are too, I don’t appreciate unfair and mindless comments like that.
I’m very well aware of GLAsgow and Silver Snapper’s previous histories and opinions. What I’m suggesting is that you take that kind of crap elsewhere and leave this forum free of paroquial b*ll**** as evidenced on a number of websites, links to which I won’t hesitate to publish !
I will call it a rant quite frankly. Joe Curry’s constant bickering across many websites and his anti Glasgow Airport commentary have gone on for long enough.
There are just as many guilty protaganists in the GLA camp as well, let me make that clear.
I really do hope that they close Glasgow down, also every other airport in Scotland, the UK and indeed the planet earth. For this would seem to be the only thing that will satisfy certain individuals ?
I am a fan of commercial aviation at large, GLA is my nearest airport and were I to become as fanatical as some I may campaign to have it renamed Paisley Airport after the nearest “populace” and town of my birth and upbringing.
As far as I’m concerned it’s another BAA airport and it has certain physical qualities that allow and attract long haul operations over EDI, and that is all !.
If I have to listen to one more god damned ‘EDI this, GLA that’ petty, petty argument, then I can only plead with the webmaster to give me moderator status as soon as possible in order that I can delete these schoolboy threads at the earliest opportunity.
Sorry about that…I was just trying to make my post stand out from the many others!
Seriously though, having made a significant profit last year (the only part of the group to do so well) it has been a bit gut wrenching to see all the benefits head eastwards.
Once I again I sympathise, it pains me to work for a profitable and lean division, only to see the benefits shifted southwards to shore up a cash hungry and inefficient operation at GHQ.
A bit of healthy competition harmed no one.. except of course those who enjoyed an unhealthy monopoly.
Give me strength ! 😮
Follow Renfrew’s lead, answer sensibly instead of turning
this thread hostile. 😡
I can assure that there’s nothing more tedious than a GLA V EDI flame war on what is an international forum. 😡
Are there any models in Zoom livery yet.? 🙂
Not that I know of and I’ve looked around. You can sometimes persuade a customiser to make you one from a blank white edition.
Here’s the Air Holland model (PH-AHR) now trading in blue as C-GZZM for Zoom Airlines of Canada.
EDIT: Just received the model and it’s actually PH-AHY, which is now working for Belgium Excel.
Bearing in mind the German operation is massively in bed with Lufthansa (we in the UK had the Lufthansa uniform and SOPS forced on us!) I have never quite got my head round the following: 60 years ago my dad flew Spitfires and fought against the Luftwaffe, 60 years later I am effectively employed by Lufthansa. Now can someone remind me who exactly won that war?
Tis a funny old game, but what would your dad say about you flying planes owned by a hairy faced former student hippy with a penchant for the youngest “Virgins” in the industry ?
