Well it’s the often quoted “pay peanuts, get monkey’s” scenario again isn’t it. For once I feel slightly defensive of Michael Ryan. Shouldn’t the airport be providing wheelchairs within it’s terminal areas and not the individual airlines ?

I could understand it from an apron to plane point of view but surely within the domain of the terminal building, that kind of issue is for BAA or whatever operator to resolve ?

And yes Kevin, this should have been sorted out behind closed doors without making the unfortunate Mr Ross a scapegoat in the matter. Good on him for taking umbrage.

I’d say in spite of the plane. It’s a moment of quality lighting and (arguably) most airliners would look jusy as superb in the same conditions. One hell of a picture though and one of those reminders why I love taking plane pics.

There’s a Damien Day in every news organisation, or should I say Andrew Gilligan ?

My experience of doing that particular work is that you should never trust a journalist, and always rely on them to have you somewhere late with egg on your face

Generally speaking, I get on with the snappers I meet in news, with the exception of a few News International chaps who could do with a bit of a slap. Especially prior to a scrum when we’ve all agreed positions and they unashamedly stand in front of your lens when you’re twenty feet away from a press conference and tripod mounted on a feckin long lens doing big close-ups.

Thankfully I don’t do news these days, a charmed existence in documentarys, studios and OB’s has done wonders for my blood pressure.

A news scrum, is a news scrum and that will never change. Presumably you were watching News 24 pictures either on News 24 or main channels, as it would have been. News 24 is a breeding ground for inexperienced cameramen and every other discipline involved in ENG.
