I’ve found a better PC to use and edited the initial post a little.
Yes that’s the “chariot to the sun” TF-ELQ, we left GLA at 9am prompt and touched down at TFS at something like 1350. I was right in the back row in the aisle, seat 26D. A comfortable flight, the plane was in reasonably good nick, cabin wise, despite some dodgily applied polyfilla round the joins in the rear toilet cabin panels.:D But hey, at the princely sum of £55 each way, I wasn’t complaining.
We were served on board by three GLA based Globespan cabin crew, who were very nice even if they seemed a little unfamiliar with this particular aircraft. I was expecting to fly on TF-ELC, the Glasgow based 737 in Globespan colours, I gather it’s being serviced and may be taking me home however ? The Icelandic flight crew were conspicious by their absence over the cabin tannoy, the 1st officer made a brief intoduction to the cabin just as we were passing the final holding point at GLA’s runway 23 for takeoff, we didn’t hear from him again until “ten minutes to landing”.
It was nice to step out of the plane onto the warm tarmac at TFS, especially as I had been working in a complete blizzard just the day before departure and the sudden introduction to warm, tropical weather was somewhat surreal to say the least.
From our remote stand, we were taken on two buses to the terminal for immigration, the stands were loaded with a variety of holiday jets from all over Europe, mainly the UK and Spain mind you, but a good selection of charters and scheduled carriers to be seen. Needless to say I didn’t have time to get any decent shots with the Canon 10D, but took a few from the bus on my little digital handy snapper.
With the firm intention of going back to the airport for some snapping, on Thursday for some German and Scandinavian action, I was a little annoyed to discover I’d forgotten the battery charger for my 10D and that I only had one battery with a full charge in it.:(
So I decided to just sit by the pool and have that lazy holiday I’ve been promising myself for ages. And it’s fair to say I haven’t moved far from the pool since, with the exception of the beach and maybe to the bar as well. What’s that Stranglers song about walking on the beaches again…. ?:D Perhaps Moondance will remember it ?
I check out early on Tuesday morning for my 1430 flight back to Glasgow, I should be at TFS (thanks to my bus connection) some three hours before departure, so I’ll be wandering around with the 10D looking for some photo opportunities. Hopefully back at cold and icy GLA by around 7pm or so on Tuesday night. I’ll post some pictures for you then.:cool:
