    I couldn’t agree more. Glasgow lost G-ARPP to the scrapman in May, the nose went to Dumfries Aviation Museum. Personally I’d have put the whole thing up in my back yard.

    On a similar computer note, does anyone know if you can buy a CD burner that you don’t have to fit into the PC tower ? I.E. a stand alone model that’s connects through a USB port that you can also connect to a hi-fi source for recording ?

    I had a friend who used to work airside at GLA, he once delivered a bonded trolley to an Atlanta Icelandic 747 that was doing holiday charters. Once on board he reckoned there wasn’t two seats that had the same upholstery on them.

    There was another airline… Royal Air I think ? , that had planes so old they’d commonly develop tech problems shortly after departure and turn back, normally resulting in a 24 wait for the passengers in the terminal.

    It was Air 2000 that really challenged Prestwick’s Trans Atlantic status by offering “direct” flights from GLA to the USA in the early 90’s.

    The “direct” flights of course had to touch down at Prestwick briefly before leaving again. As soon as this ruling was thrown out, Northwest moved it’s operation to Glasgow. BA, Air Canada, United American and others followed suit either moving from PIK or starting afresh at Glasgow.

    Of the bunch only Continental have a year round service now. BA and United pulled out altogether. Air Canada only do summer as does AA.

    Same thing happened to me at MAN after a late night arrival from The Canaries. Not a soul to be seen.

    Continental do in winter season from GLA, I think Air 2000 used to as well to Florida?
