I do agree with your sentiments Bhoy. I don’t quite understand why BAA has put two of it’s own airports in direct competition with each other when they used to work together relatively harmoniously ?

It’s fair to say the Scottish Executive are based in Edinburgh and the lion’s share of the new routes fund they set up has gone to Edinburgh Airport, but that’s politician’s for you. GLA is still suffering from the Kingston Bridge bottleneck. I think once the legendary M74 extension is finally in place we’ll then see Glasgow Airport expand in the manner it deserves to.

After all there’s no better gateway to Scotland than Glasgow/Paisley Airport, or am I wrong ? 😀

And smelly, but what a beauty !

I’ll miss these big old noisy jets when they finally go. Must get some Concorde shots when I’m at Heathrow on the 18th. 😎

Near the Loganair hangar. I couldn’t get any wider than this on my long lens.

I don’t know what looks best, the 737 or the hills ? 😎

A nice looking Dash pops in (and out and in again, whilst I was at GLA)

You said it Roger. Even with relatively cheap lenses and trying to get to grips with all the options available now, it’s fair to say I’m having a great time. I don’t have to leave the airport early to get film processed, I know what I’ve shot there and then, I can make changes straight away and generally have a ball.

    Here’s a few more, I feel like celebrating! 😀

I quite like it. There’s something about the front end of a 777 that reminds me of a whale ! Anyone else getting this ?

As I left to go the car park, this BRA 737 arrived and pulled into the international apron.

I waited here to catch the Zoom 767 arrival and then the departing Continental flight to Newark.

Donald, recommended I visit a large mound of rubble round the back of the Loganair hangar which was deposited by builders. This spot offers great views of departing jets on 23 and even better arrivals and departures when 05 is in use. This is where I later met Fred Seggie who arrived on his bicycle, camera over the shoulder.

I drove round to the main airport after this and had a nice chat with Loganair’s Captain Donald Sturrock as I admired his BN Islander.

He’d just had a Stornoway air ambulance trip cancelled and was waiting to see what came up next. He told me to expect the Islander’s to appear in a new interim Loganair scheme soon, as BA didn’t like having their name on such a puny aircraft. Basically removing the BA tail and wording and replacing it with the old Loganair tail and wording on the side. The blue and white basic finish will remain for the time being.

This was as he took off on a training flight with another pilot, you can just make out the day-glo vest he was wearing over his jacket.
