You know, when I read Adam’s initial post above , I had a feeling Zoom would be involved in this somehow. Yes, that is good news and I might just consider booking one of those holidays myself.

I wonder when Zoom will get it’s new aircraft ? Presumably this is just the start of it’s expansion plans and if they are going to more or less base 2 767’s at GLA, then I’m guessing they’ll be looking at operating perhaps half a dozen or more planes by next summer ?:D

Yip John Boyle, founder of Direct Holidays/Cruises. He’s obviously decided running a football club’s a mug’s game.

It’s worth going round your local model shops to look for sold out Gemini Jets models.

Same here, I took some annual leave in order to go to the concert, still worked Saturday though. Got 3 more early starts on The Saturday Show and then it’s football, football, football every Saturday and Sunday til May ! 😮

Only bonus is if I do work a bank holiday I get another day’s annual leave added to the account.

Lot’s of good films coming out of Scotland lately. There’s “Young Adam” starring Ewen McGregor that premiered at Edinburgh the other week.

Films shot round my neck of the woods include Peter Mullans “Orphans” and the wonderful “My Name Is Joe”. Luc Besson was shooting in Glasgow in the spring for a movie starring Morgan Freeman and Fan Lee, don’t know when it’s due out though ?

I’d create a Scottish version of Aer Lingus, offering internal. european and long haul transatlantic services.

We would fly a largely Airbus fleet, with a stylish modern “celtic” themed livery. The cabin staff would be laid back, friendly girls along the lines of the B/CAL ethic. All the staff would be shareholders in the company (helps to keep enthusiasm levels up)

We would fly from Glasgow for everything, Edinburgh for mid and short haul as Aberdeen. The internal and inter island services would be run by Loganair as a franchise of us and in our colours. We would establish an extensive and respected engineering base at Prestwick, which would also become the hub of our future cargo operation using A380 freighters.

Long haul from Glasgow would operate to New York, Boston, Chicago using A330’s and A340’s, Seattle and Los Angeles using A380’s.

Our mid-short haul fleet would comprise of A330’s A321’s and A320’s. Routes from Scotland would include London (LHR), Paris, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Turin, Athens, Moscow, Morocco, Cairo and beyond.

We would also start up a charter division, taking care of the demands of our subsidiary tour operator called “I’m a Scotsman, Get Me Out Of Here” which would operate a dedidated fleet of A319’s taking people to all the usual european sunspots and long haul holiday’s on our dedicated A330’s to Cuba, Florida and the Carribean resorts.

Being enthusiast friendly, we’d make sure one or more of our planes were available for the air show season, offering flights for fun to the shows and back, we’d also allow the public on board at these shows to meet the crew, see the cockpit and receive a free memento of the day…. a model plane or bottle of single malt whisky commisioned by ourselves and manufactured on Speyside.

The main airline would be called “Flying Scotsman”, the charter line would be called ” Tartan Trips” and the cargo operation would be called “Luggin Boxes” The livery would be an all over Stewart Tartan with a Virgin style nose character featuring various greats from Scottish sporting and historical legend. Each graphic would also bear the person’s name.

Howz that for starters ? 😀

Here’s an example…. I sent a picture to PP.net and it got rejected saying it should be cropped further. I sent it back further cropped, it got rejected again, this time because the “horizon wasn’t level”. I sent it in again with no changes other than a bit of sharpening and it got accepted. It seems to depend on which screener looks at your picture.
