Are there positive discrmination policies in force with most airlines nowadays to encourage female and ethnic pilot recruitment?

Great pics, is the air force a bit like starting school when your new uniform still has to fit you all the way through primary school ? 😀

Not if it’s a wide lens or the wheel is far enough away from the Saab.

D’ya know the real story ?

Sod it, I’ve gone and booked a day trip to LHR for Thursday 18th September. If anyone else can make it, that would be great.

    Details are

    GLA-LHR 1050-1215 Bmi BD5
    LHR-GLA 2140-2255 Bmi BD14

Should have the digi camera by then or a lot sooner. 😀

Great pictures, I’m gonna have to visit this Myrtle Avenue. In fact I was going to book a trip to AMS next, maybe I should get to Heathrow and get some Concorde shots of my own before it’s too late. Late September anyone ?

The first one is Titan who’ve I’ve flown with. They are basically an ad-hoc charter firm and often repaint their aircraft in the colours of whovever leases their planes. The second pic won’t open for me.

I think the Viscount is officially the UK’s most succesful airliner in sales terms ? Any one else agree ?

Nice pic BTW Steve, I miss seeing those at GLA as in the 70’s and 80’s when I started going for a look.

I remember both incidents, but obviously Lockerbie more so as it’s close to home. Some of my (future) colleagues were despatched to the scene from a nearby outside broadcast in Dumfries to shoot news reports and were some of the first on scene. Their stories of what they witnessed are not at all pleasant. Some had to give up and go home quite quickly. 🙁

The last time I passed through Lockerbie was around the tenth anniversary in 1998. I drove near Tundergarth farm where the famous shot of the impacted nose section was taken. This was an eerie place to say the least, hairs standing up on the back of the neck kind of stuff. It was also the first year the town decided to put on it’s Christmas lights since the incident.

I’ve been on BAe 146-200’s with Aer Lingus and Go (Titan) also ERJ135/145 with Bmi Regional. I walked across the tarmac each time and prefer it this way as it let’s you at least get a decent photo of the plane from close range.
