Got this one from the other side of the terminal. I was watching a doc on Discovery Wings last night about Hugh Hefner’s private DC-9 which he eventually sold to Aero California. I wonder if this could be the one ?
Apologies for the low quality of my scanner, at least I can do originals now.
Yes, a nice pic and good to see more forum user original pics. Speaking of originals… this could be the first one I’ve posted myself. It was taken from Tom Bradley terminal at LAX last June, you can see my Aer Lingus flight waiting behind. Here goes…

No disrespect taken Selsport, Just cause I work for the Beeb it doesn’t make me like journalists any more than the average person. That said ythe story was covered this morning by the business correspondent who has his own remit.
I’ve been watching News 24 off and on most of the day and the story has failed to resurface. Perhaps they got their wires crossed this morning.
The grounding threat seemed to be coming from BAA or CAA, I was just waking up at the time so perhaps I’m the one that’s confused. Maybe there’s an issue relating to outstanding airport fees or something. It wouldn’t be the first time BAA have impounded planes to get their money.
BTW Selsport… are you still planning to make the Manchester meet in July. I’ve got my tickets already ?
I had a look on HERE and it’s not unreasonable for flights. I guess you could just sit on the beach all day with a camera and a few cool ones in an ice bag.
The report was on Breakfast (business) News on BBC-1 this morning. It doesn’t appear on their news website though ?
G-BMRJ as she is today… What do you prefer ?
It is St Maarten. It must be a tight one to park a jumbo on. I tried it on Flight Sim and ended up in the sea no matter what I tried to do. Couldn’t get up enough take off speed either. All Flight Sim needs for this airport is some virtual tourists taking piccies (lol)
How about posting some of your pics The Plane ?
“Quick roll up the window!”
What a view…!
Do you think the people in the 747 had the same idea ? (lol)
Great pic Kabir, looks like a race to touch down first:D
If you have a look at the runway markings on Flight Sim you can see the different idents at the ends of the runways.
Shame there couldn’t have been more in these great colours… G-BMRJ
Wys, do you know if JMC inherited any 757’s from Caledonian during the merger with Flying Colours or did they all go back into BA service and livery ? I think the latter but not sure.
I also think the 757 looks great in BA colours whatever the scheme may have been. As I recall they were bought originally as a direct replacement for the Tridents and to be used on the various domestic shuttle routes.
I always wanted to go on a BA 757, but despite using the Heathrow Birmingham and Gatwick shuttle’s fairly regularly, I always seem to end up on a 737 or Airbus.
In fact the only 757’s I’ve been on have been JMC holiday flights.
