I normally listen up out of courtesy and respect for the cabin crew, even though I generally feel familiar with the emergency evacuation procedures. I agree it’s more interesting somehow when it’s a video rarther than the “live” demo, probably because I work in the biz and like to appraise the production values.

I have however incurred the wrath of an irate BA cabin stewardess for daring to glance out the window at a passing B767 during her demo, a tale I’ve told before. Other than that I’m a model passenger.

Suddenly I feel the urge to put on my “Airplane” dvd. The scene with the kid visiting the flight deck is a classic !:D

Fred Seggie is arguably GLA’s most ardent photographer and a huge contributor to Airliners.net.

Looking at his latest contributions he seems to have captured a “fashion show” of all the new charter liveries in one day at GLA at the weekend.

I’m saving uo for a 400mm lens and a decent neg scanner now !

I think I’m getting the filesize thing going now. Here’s a wing shot form the A330.

I don’t think there’s been a official policy enforced banning cockpit visits ? I suspect most airlines will have their own policy on this and that generally speaking such visits would be discouraged.

It’s a shame really, as I would have liked to have made a visit, never been in one at all. The closest I got was whilst waiting to use the forward toilets on a DC-10 and one of the crew popped out for a spell giving a brief view of the flight deck.

I don’t get it ? have Aer Lingus started a low cost operation in harmony with it’s regular set up ?

Don’t worry Kabir, my next photographic excursion will be somewhat more dramatic (lol):D

Still can’t get my own pics down to an acceptable file size to post though. Anyone willing to help me there ?

I’ve often wondered about that myself ?

There was a great movie in the 50’s that heavily featured the Peacemaker. I think it starred Jimmy Stewart ? Anyone remember it ?

Bit of a soppy love story in the end but had tons of great footage of the plane in action. I actually thought it was a deliberate propaganda job on the part of the USAF when I first saw it, as the plane was more or less the star of the film.

Here’s how I remember them at from day trips to Prestwick in the 80’s.

I’d like to see Loganair colours back in the skies. Yet another airline given the BA franchise treatment.

Agree with the Caledonian colours and not just because I’m Caledonian. I also miss BA redtail and classic Pan Am.

If I may expand the thread a little… ? which modern day airliners do you think would look good in a retro livery and conversely, which retro airliners would you like to see in modern day liveries ?

I think a DC-3 in today’s BA colours would look great for some bizarre reason ???

I’d also like to see a B757 in BOAC colours ! Don’t ask me why ? Perhaps some of our artistically gifted members could indulge me a little ?

I agree about the spacious feel on the Airtours 330. I was on one last year. I actually felt more like I was on a ferry than a plane because of the downstairs toilets.

I understand the downstairs ‘module’ can be configured in a variety of manners. A shop for instance or a crew sleeping area, or just a relaxing “chill out” area for general use.

I flew an Aer Lingus 330 six months after Airtours and it had a more conventional cramped layout as described in the JMC experience.
