RE: more speculation about GLA/EDI
More front page news in today’s Evening Times, suggesting transport minister Alasdair Darling has been telling porkies over projections that EDI will outgrow GLA by 2030. He also seems to have been exaggerating the costs associated with upgrading GLA.
Who’s been a naughty boy then ? AN Edinburgh MP too…!
RE: Some very, very nice pictures to finish of the week with!
I thought those BA world tails were a great idea. I don’t know what Maggie was playing at with that hanky.
BA has the idea of repainting it’s planes to represent the cultural diversity and depth of it’s routing and customer base.
Mrs T says we’re the brits, fly the flag ! Says a lot about the woman in my opinion.
RE: Good News…Airport Strikes Suspended !!!
Sounds like they could be on again !
RE: Pic Of The Day-B727!
Against that mighty backdrop, it looks like a biz jet ! Great pic
RE: more speculation about GLA/EDI
I wonder if the market has picked up enough in the trans Atlantuc sector to open up *any* new routes, let alone Scottish ones. When you consider 10 years ago from Glasgow you could get to North America on BA, Northwest, United, American, Air Canada and Continental and various ad-hoc charters, and how quickly most of them pulled out after a few short months or years, you have to wonder if it’s worth bringing in more options, as much as I’d like to see more business coming into GLA.
RE: RyanAir and Boeing have a pop at Airbus.
What would be a typical delivery route for a 737 from Boeing to the UK/Ireland and how many pitstops would one expect to make along the way ? Presumably anything from a 757/767 upwards would do the entire trip in one go ?
Just wondering…
RE: Your chance to be a pilot
Actually… wouldn’t this make for an entertaining reality tv show. Much more informative than an endless line of pop star wannabees.
I must speak to my producer chums at the beeb!
RE: Your chance to be a pilot
Go for it guys ! If the lead singer from Iron Maiden can do it, so can you. I’ll be looking out for yaz next time I go my holidays with JMC !!
RE: Airline returns bag — 13 years later
I hope he wasn’t carrying any egg sandwiches in that bag (lol)
RE: more speculation about GLA/EDI
You can also read about the report from the Fraser of Allander think tank that put’s Glasgow ahead of Edinburgh in terms of the future air travel requirment white paper.

RE: Some very, very nice pictures to finish of the week with!
I saw a pic of a Condor repaint and wasn’t exactly filled with awe. It’s a bit dull really.
I think the JMC colours are much better, funkier, more modern. They haven’t exactly been on the planes all that long either. Must be costing a fortune all these resprays ?
RE: Scottish Airports receive £6 million boost
Oh well, my chance to fly on it would appear to have gone !
RE: Scottish Airports receive £6 million boost
Yeah it will definitely be 20 years in Feb 2003 since BA introduced the 757 onto the shuttle routes. I was in 1st year at secondary school at the time.
I found a pic of G-BIKB on Airliners.net taken in 2001, still in BA colours but thought that it may have been sold on to DHL for crago conversion by Boeing.
RE: Scottish Airports receive £6 million boost
Yeah Brittania are probably the largest regular 757 operator out of GLA. BA used to have that plaudit with the shuttle services, but mainly on 737s and Airbus these days.
ALthough you must have made a few visits yourself with JMC’s fleet wysiwyg ?
Speaking of BA 757’s… It’s nearly 20 years since they entered service and therefore 20 years since I legged it out of school one February morning to see the first one arrive at Glasgow as part of the Trident replacement fleet on the LHR shuttle route. The machine was G-BIKB. Anyone know where she is now ? DHL perhaps ?
RE: How about this?
I’m pretty sure one of these flew over me this morning in Inverness ? Couldn’t make out a livery or markings though.
How could I find out.
