RE: Airliners you’d love to fly on
I’ve done the Barra beach landing in a Loganair Twin Otter, very bumpy and exhilarating ride. Loved the cabin service, a bottle of whisky passed round with paper cups ! Also enjoyed hopping up and down to Stornoway on the BAe ATP, how those wings bounce !
Having admired the DC-10 from afar over the years, I was a little dissapointed with my first flight this year on an Airtours plane. A bit like the JMC flight, it was seat configured to the max, loaded with screaming air sick children and a dodgy air-con unit meade for a very sweaty 4 hour flight from the Canaries. Maybe in it’s 70’s heyday it would have been more fun ?
The first flight I can remember (although not my first flight) was on a Brittania 737-200 circa 1981 aged 10. It goes to show how air travel has become more affordable as I didn’t fly again until aged 24, apart from a short filming trip in a Jet Ranger.
Favourite plane to be on so far, has to be the Airbus A330, I also enjoyed the A319/320/321. Been on more 737’s than I’ve had hot dinners, which in the case of Easyjet is definitely true !
I’d like to try a biz-jet for pace, maybe the new breeds of commuter jets as well would be fun? I’ve never flown a Jumbo either and I’d also enjoy the chance at some classic retro airliners, DC-3’s, Connie’s. Electra’s, Viscount’s etc. Early turbojet airliners would be good too, the 737-200 being the only one I’ve tried.
