    RE: Most Memorable flight?

    I’ve got three memorable flights.

    (1) Eurocypria BHX-LCA A320 July 2000.
Enduring five hours of obscene anti-social behaviour from half of
the passengers ~(Ayia Napa clubbers). No action what so ever was taken by the crew which puts them down as my no 1. worst airline ever.

    (2) British European BHX-EXT SH360 G-OHBD May 2001.
Flight down to Exeter to interview the MD and Director of Strategy had Claire Short MP on board

    (3) Monarch Airlines LTN-GIB-LTN B757 G-MOND 4th August 2002
Roundtrip in the jump seat. 5 hours of cockpit! Bliss.

    Have you added flybe.com?

    They’re a low cost airline?

    Didn’t he?!

I’ll have words tomorrow. He said he would when he first got it, but it wouldn’t be that day.

    Sorry Steven.

I don’t take things anymore, but I was doing a favour for a colleague as he let me stay over during the bad weather a couple of weeks ago.

    RE: Low Cost Airlines

    Good website!

I’m afraid you’ve missed out Monarch Scheduled (http://www.flymonarch.com).

Monarch Airlines have been flying scheduled routes for 17 years out of LTN!! They offer low fares with all the other things that EasyJet and co don’t give you i.e. newspaper, tv, quality 4 course meal, loyalty points, friendly staff and Customer Service etc etc.

    ZB fly from
LTN to AGP, ALC, TFS, FAO, GIB and MAH

MAN to AGP, ALC, FAO, PMI (PMI from 1st May)

LGW to AGP, ALC and FAO (LGW is from 1st May)

I would be grateful for Monarch’s inclusion onto your website, as we are as much a low cost airline as the others, and in my opinion, an even better airline.

Manchester’s first ‘low cost’ airline was Monarch Scheduled with MAN to AGP, ALC, FAO and PMI (1st May commencement for PMI).

    RE: What Weather

Yesterday at Luton Airport, the weather was awful! Strong winds and heavy snow showers.

So terrible was the weather, that most people went home at c.3pm.

The roads were grid-locked outside of Monarch Airlines HQ yesterday afternoon and evening. I live in Leighton Buzzard, but decided to minimise my risks by night-stopping at an office colleague’s flat. We walked to his flat in about 25mins, where as most people sitting in their vehicles outside MON HQ took about 1 hour to move a few metres. It would have taken me around six hours to get home last night apparently, so I think I did the right thing.

A Go-Fly B737 took off from LTN today and also a FR B737-800 (we normally have B737-200s).

    RE: Ryanair vs GermanWings

Have just booked four of us to go STN-HHN-STN with FR on 18/03 for £1 rtn each incl. taxes!
It wouldn’t except my booking-fee free card type, so I have had to pay a £4 fee, which doubled the cost!!

    Schweins.

Ryanair are only doing this because they can’t shift the seats. My mates and i only travel when the low cost airlines are desperate to shift some capacity and they sell it off very cheap!! he he he

I’m off to CGN with Germanwings for the day on 15th February with work mates. It is only costing £2 return incl. all taxes.

My mate booked us all a couple of months ago.

    RE: British European BHX-BRU

When I flew BHX-EXT on their last SH360 (G-OHBD) we were given a hot bacon roll with brown sauce. Bueno! Claire Short MP was on that flight too.
I’ve always thought highly of BE, (and not just because they supported my dissertation with interviews).

I was a bit miffed with the way BHX management shoved BE to one side when Mytravel Lite came along. Flybe have been a long standing airline at BHX and are the second biggest operator out of BHX. For BHX to say that Mytravel Lite were practically the first low fare carrier out of BHX is a bit stupid, as they don’t want to be upsetting important based airlines.

    Anyone agree?

    RE: British European BHX-BRU

Cheers. I’ve got a BE Dash 8-300 on top of my tv.

BE are asking approx £52, where as BA want about £40 more than that and SN are about £5 more than BA, even though BA/SN is the same flight. I favour BE (should my plans materialise).

I’m already flying six times in the next few months.

Germanwings 15/02 STN-CGN-STN for £2 return inc. tax (and they have leather seats and inflight tv!).
    Ryanair STN-BGY-STN, STN-CIA-STN, STN-CRL-STN, STN-LBC-STN
    SqueezyJet/Go STN-BIO-STN.

All day trips, except for Rome which is a weekend jobby. (with work mates). Can’t wait.

My first time on “low cost” airlines. Fly Stansted to no-man’s land airport for £1 one way!

    (I’m getting cynical now, sorry).

    RE: Airline Business

Congratulations Mongu! I wish you well with your accountancy qualification.

If you’re looking for a financial job within an airline, they are always going to need people with your qualifications. In terms of whether there may be many job vacancies in the future when you look is hard to say. The airline industry is going through some bumpy turbulence at present (as you will be aware) and it is hard to predict what shape the industry will be in a couple of years away, i.e. will there be fewer carriers? (less job positions).

In terms of MON, they don’t appear to have vacancies for your work area that often. In fact, I can’t remember seeing a vacancy for treasury or management accounts etc whilst being there.
