What about that p38 from oz?? Has that arrived yet or is that at Bentwaters??
Nice colour scheme on that Squirrel and great Horseman artwork…..putting two and two together…likely belongs to the Friedkin family. To fly with USAF aircraft you need to be qualified, so may hint that Dan F may fly the Mustang with the F22? That said could be any of the Horsemen (including Steve Hinton).
I miss the days of Horsemen and supporter meet ups at Duxford and else where. Jim Beasley, Dan F, Ed Shipley.
Hmmmmmm
It’s container watch time!!!!
Most likely to be one of the horsemen I would imagine – most likely Steve as he is always here. Is young Stevo heritage flight certified? A fantastic young pilot and top lad as well!
Spitfire p9734 ‘J’
Any word if this will fly this year David / Brian??
Too good a machine to sit out another season.
Yes it should look amazing in formation or parked up with SM845. The two Hong Kong schemed aeroplanes are very similar schemes but have subtle differences making them interesting in their own right. It has certainly caused me a bit of head scratching this time but I managed to source the vital photographs courtesy of Mark 12 and the old issues of Aeroplane Monthly with the articles written by Ted Powles. Some way to go yet but it should look great and a lot more eye-catching than before.
And the great thing is my corgi 1:72 Ted Powles spitfire can sit in with the BBMF collection now!!
Great work by the ARCO guys as per usual.
How is the Lizzie coming along???
any news on what the plans are for P9734 this year?
Is Ed Russells 109 e still over here?
It’s now owned by a third party and is to be operated by BHHH.
I was fortunate enough to see her on a hangar tour in early December when I starting to speaking to an engineer called ‘Craig’. I asked ‘are you Craig Charleston’ to which he was really surprised I knew who he was!! An absolutely lovely guy who is the master of restoration on Me109s. She’s certainly in good hands!!
Does anyone have an update on the two other Messerschmitt Foundation ‘109’s other than ‘Red 7’? I don’t think the ‘109 G-10 has flown since its prang at ILA a few years ago but I may be wrong.
TIA.
The faux BOB scheme example is due its engine back relatively shortly whilst the G10
Is some way away if I recall
So you expect the IWM to guarantee the weather?
Remember – Stephen Grey has a deal with God for Legends weekend – let’s hope he’s renewed that deal for this year!
So, does this mean Lamplough has stopped flying high performance aircraft?

Maybe to help finance the me109e???
That will be worth a few quid when it’s done!!
The engineer for the Jordanians did visit, but my understanding was that it was stated that if they bid, then it would be off to the owner as soon as the money cleared. By the fact it remains in the hangar, I think it’s safe to assume they didn’t bid.
My bet is its a collector with no interest in aviation
Was there not a stipulation in the sale for it to remain in the uk?
Seems such a shame it missed all the big events – but hey it’s not money!!
The wings left North Weald this afternoon. The fuselage and centre section are due out around 0800 tomorrow (Tuesday). They are already loaded on the trucks.
Did it make it alright? Not the best of days to move a heavy aircraft by road during these winds…
I read a book some 3 – 5 decades agoregarding the airwar in Africa. I do not remember the title nor who was cited. But -if I remember correctly- a former German ace from that theater said: “The Italian biplane pilots (CR-32 and CR-42) were more famous for their aerobatic than for their gunnery skills.” Maybe it just seemed to be like this, due to few guns per plane.

How wonderful it will be to see this in the air with a gladiator – especially one in Malta colours.
I for one cannot wait!
‘Spirit of Kent’ was in fine fettle at Goodwood on Tuesday
According to the programme I purchased at Goodwood event, the recently-auctioned Mk I P9374 is reported to be owned by King Abdullah II of Jordon. N3200 is owned by the IWM, and X4650 (along with AR213) by the Friedkins.
With three reportedly owned by overseas interests and one by a National Museum with a recent history of bizarre decision making, I would suggest anyone who wants to see them fly does so ASAP – we could well be left without a single airworthy Mk I in the UK before long.
Wasn’t there some sort of condition that P9734 needs to be kept in the UK? Also heard that apparently the new owner has yet to pay up and has two weeks to do so? Seems a real waste its missed a big portion of this season of all years?
Has P9734 broken cover as yet? Has been booked for the Tuesday at Goodwood but I don’t even know if it’s been reassembled since the auction?
Whatever you say about Kermit – he is not afraid of interacting with us enthusiasts and share his passion – certainly a lesson one or two operators should take note of (of course its up to them entirely – they pay the bills!)
Will be interesting to say how act 3 of FOF will look like – could make or break them. I certainly look forward to visiting in a few years when little Rafe is a bit older.
Does anybody have a definitive list of all the aircraft and projects he owns? I can think of at least 10 aircraft under restoration and nearing completion alone (Mike I’m looking at you here ).
