    i think the whole idea of flying such a valuable plane over a large section of water is slightly dangerous, but as the new tfc tf51 proved it is possible. i would imagine that the only way it would come over if mr jackson and his backers funded the whole trip. How much would that cost? $1million perhaps?

    I thought as much, why restore a plane to wartime config then sell it? Surely thats just throwing money away.

    i think 18 months was touted when it first went to chino fighter rebuilders but i may be wrong. Although i’m sure when it returns it will be immaculate as always. One of the TFC boys can probably shed some more info though.

    just out of curiousity, how much would it cost to buy a db and re-engineer the buchon to make it look more like an me-109? i would imagine the cost in pounds is about £350000 at the current exchange rate, so in terms of a warbird i think whoever bought it got a bargain.

    i know this is an old thread but does anyone have an update on the paul allen he111 project that is supposedly being restored in Norfolk? Is it being done by the same guys who are doing the fw190 and me 262?

    damn i forgot the swordfish!!! would make an interesting formation with the seafire, sea hurri, corsair, martlet and sea fury.

    Hows the sea fury coming along at north weald Lee? Has the refurbished prop returned yet?

    Also forgot:

    The tempest (has the engine returned yet?)
    HAC Yak 1 (must be getting close?)
    Blenheim ( although i think it may be too soon)

    i also beleive the b25 visited longleat when they held the air race there a couple of years ago. i may be wrong though…

    wheres that outrageous paint scheme? lovely looking plane and can’t wait for it to arrive in europe. lets hope it decides to visit the uk at some point, not that it might wan’t to come over in the summer and coincide with bolero 3 or the liberty belle coming over……:p

    of course i’m not including the yanks or the poles……

    Until tonight the death toll during the battle was just numbers until i browsed every single name. Really brings it home what those boys did for us….

    has it been maintained in airworthy trim? i remember seeing it come over my old flat in chafford hundred heading towards biggin hill about 3 years ago. What a sight.
