i totally agree with mark12, if the b17 was left where it was, eventually it would degrade into a big pile of rust. i do feel some sympathy toward the local tourist board, but surely such a rare aircraft is better to be seen by millions of people either in a museam or as a flying tribute to those who fought and died trying to bring back freedom to that part of the world.
Also can anybody shed light on whether the usaaf or raf ever buried complete aircraft in crates in these sorts of areas (i.e burma, PNG, guadacanal etc) or is it wishful thinking on someones part? :diablo:
davski, will all three of that fabulous trio be doing…..you know the one i mean!!
Big well done to all involved, it looks beautiful.
i take it the flugwerk 190 didn’t attend?
that me 109 looks amazing!! hopefully she will come to legends this year. :dev2:
so, we know how many are flyers, albeit with some debate, but does anybody have a list of projects with the intention to fly? i would hazard a bet between 10 and 15 worldwide? i know hawker restorations have at least 4, one of which is planned to be a 2 seater. anybody else have any info?
Taxi for VTTSCM……
i’m embarassed, i really am.
hopefully bbd won’t remain on the ground for too long. Sounds like it must have been a scary experience!
would be nice, the zero tends to be one of the top 3 in those ‘what would you like at legends’ thread. should be some show, with the potential for all those new machines that they have acquired being there.
The question is, where are they gonna put them all? :diablo:
Now if it was a toss up between Legends and Dagenham and Redbridge, that would be difficult. However Legends edges it for me.
i do have a cunning plan…..
At the moment curry’s are giving away 7inch lcd tvs with certain packages, and i just happen to want a new 42inch telly. my missus is gonna kick me up the ass when i bring that baby home.
i don’t want a crowd around my deckchair mind…
robbo is the new ricky gervais! or is it julian clary?
i doubt its the hfc hurri as it was being flight tested at wittering or watisham, i never bloody remember!!!!
i would assume whatever way it was going, its a flier.
if its there already, then surely it must have been arriving!!! the plot takes another turn!!! maybe, just maybe something else may have arrived for us all to drool over!!!
whats the state of play at hawker restorations? do they work on more than one plane at a time or is it one done and on to the next?
i thought both the tfc and hfc hurris left a little while ago. has anyone confirmed whether it was coming or going? its like sadsack said, surely it would have been crated if it was leaving? unless it has entered the country by air rather than by sea? didn’t a hurri depart these shores a few years back via mildenhall in the back of a galaxy (and no not the ford!!)
hmmmmm very puzzling.
i would take it, that it was the desert camo ex tfc hurri which is on its way to canada. our loss is most certainly canada’s gain.
you might want to read the report on wanaka 2006 sadsack. sir tim wallis is winding up the organisation and all the fleet are for sale, with the spitfire mk xvi already on its way to temora.
she is certainly a beauty though.
bearing in mind that tfc have just got rid of theirs…….surely not another acquisition? of course, they would be favourites as to all the movements and such of late. bearing in mind i do not, stress do not want to speculate, its just wishful thinking!!!
just curious, have the alpine fighter collection found a new owner for theirs yet?
