Is there any reason why the aircraft didn’t go to Wroughton? Presumably that option was considered.

They have the room there and given the distances and road systems the costs would be about the same or less than the current destinatoins.

We wouldn’t have had a unique aircraft, the 707, being destroyed, apart from the non unique bit that is. The continuance of type duplication would help to ensure more secure existence of the types concerned.
