The new Fantan. I think the aircraft in the bottom is a wanna be F/A-18.
Gee, I thought the Q-5 Fantan is obsolete and the Chinese want to put the type out of service, but no, they actually bothered giving the aircraft a new make over. I also notice the L-15, really nice, is it a new advanced trainer?
As I recall, the FT-2000 is quite dissimilar to the S-300PMU-1, principally a Chinese design, intended for attacking radiation-emitting planes such as AWAC’s, though its range is only estimated to be 100-120km, which makes you wonder how they intend to deploy it (modern AWAC’s can loiter up to 600km away).
Yes…it makes you think dosen’t it?
Why would the Chinese make a 100-120km range missile system for something that could loiter up to 600km away?
I’m really a big fan of the MiG-25/31, but I believe the MiG-25 is obsolete by today’s standards and the MiG-31 still have a few years to go, always wondering why there are no customers for the 31.
How good is the Chinese FT-2000 when compare to the Russian S-300PMU-1?
That’s terrible. How could such a thing happened.
Its great to hear the Swiss air force is getting rid off the Mirage IIIs, and maybe Pakistan might be interested in those planes.
A question for Indian members, does anyone know the relations between the Indian and Vietnamese air forces?
Earlier this year, I found an article saying that Vietnam have signed a deal with HAL for the upgrade of MiG-21s, plus, India also offered help in training Vietnamese personnel at Indian Institutes, so I wondering how these developments have gone so far.
The J-HH sure looks interesting…especially the delta-wing and the canard foreplane.
Any info on the Su-22 upgrade? What kind of avionics and weapons?
Don’t know much about the Su-22 upgrades, bit it seems that Vietnam is really interested in Su-22UM two-seaters.
Those Serbian warships are great!! how about some Kotor class frigates?
If Vietnam settles their differences with China theywould not have any real enemies
True, but sometimes its the Chinese who are the bullies and choose to pick on Vietnam, these days the Vietnamese people have nothing against China or it’s people.
On the subject of Vietnamese strike force, Vietnam have hold talks with the Ukraine on the purchase of some Su-22s, and a contract have been signed with HAL to upgrade MiG-21s. As for the Su-27/30s, I think Vietnam will buy more in future as the country’s ecenomy continue to grow, but as for the MiG-29 I doubt Vietnam will ever spend money on those or LCA and FC-1.
Gripen for $14 million each?…….WOW
Mate if anyone does find any they’d be legends, anyone caught taking pics of military stuff in that country are shot on sight, they don’t even pretend to ask questions.
A Laotian Riverine unit in one of their bases.
This is all I could find, very poor format but at least I find something on Laos. 🙂
The pictures are small but here it is: Laotian MiG-21 and Mi-17 choppers.
