    a very interesting insight from you mate, it seems to me consumer products were limited under Communism. What was it like when you first experience “capitalism”?

    And what right did the North have to want to force reunification under Communism? What did the South do wrong by asking America for assistance?

    The VietNamese people have all the right, the murderous-minded US military have zero rights.

    Yeah, but he did go to school and I’m interested to know how much education was influenced by Communism. If school is count as part of a social thing with friends and stuff.

    Canpark, you’re assuming that all Vietnamese would have chosen to live under Communist rule. While the regime in South Vietnam was hardly perfect, I have yet to see evidence of significant (and voluntary) support amongst the South Vietnamese population for the VC. Hence the VC need to use fear-inducing tactics, such as torturing and mutilating village headmen and their families.

    I agree that not many VietNamese people support the VC, even some of the best VC fighters didn’t believe in the ideological-leanings of the NLF. However, the need to drive out American troops drive them into the arm of the NLF, and they became the tool of Communism in the process.

    I didn’t say that…but it is a undenying fact PRC is decisive for present Vietnam victory. From securing North Vietnam border to large quantity of logistic provided(Ho Chih Min Trail)… Without PRC backing,no present Vietnam!

    Not you, it came into my mind.

    Anyway, it wasn’t a “VietNamese victory”- it was a victory for the peace activist worldwide.

    Of cos can,cos vietnamese has no hope of winning with their greatest beneficial not backing them ,HQ quashed..complete united under South Vietnam government…. All hope of a communist Vietnam will be a dream already!

    One important factor….If PRC says they don mind US occupied North Vietnam,North vietnam will long time ago roll over by US army and Sea amphibious attack from US marine!

    The “loss” of South Vietnam could not be stopped by air power alone, actually the usage of air power didn’t help the effort at all. The Americans didn’t quite understand this war, and it seems that hasn’t change since. The installation of something like a trustful government and military leadership in the South would have damaged the Vietcong much more than any bomb, wherever dropped.

    In the 1960s VietNam was divided into two states due to different ideololgies, but fundamentally the country is one. America can install as many puppet governments as it wants in the South but the resistance from the VietNamese people would never stop. Even if the VC is damage.

    America can bomb VietNam over and over again, American soldiers can keep raping and murdering VietNamese civilians but victory belong to the people of VietNam. In the battle between decent human beings and bloodthirsty barbarians, the human will always be the victor.
