The A-7 Corsair II or SLUF has a very efficient turbofan engine. It also has a good fuel fraction, giving it long legs and endurance compared to the other two. It also is small, built tough and nimble.

The Jaguar is built for low level work. Its fast and accurate, with a high wing loading giving great ride at low level in gusty air. It’s also fairly fragile compared to the others and has rather more thirsty engines. It does have two of them tough.

The Su-17 or -22 is the largest of the three. It also has low wing loading and a thirsty turbojet engine. Its built like a brick house and flies like one. It does carry a good deal of fuel, but needs lots of it as well, due to its engine type.

All three aircraft carry fairly sophisticated avionics. Nav/attack systems and bombing computers are found in all of them. If the mission is interdiction, i’d prefer the suchoi, but if its CAS, i’d prefer the A-7. imo the jaguar loses out for being lightly built and lacking internal fuel for battlefield persistence.

Wont the flying programme be different? or is it the same for all three days? it seems the friday passes are still to be got. seems that it should be less crowded that day. fewer children at least 😛

Magazine shure isnt what it used to be.

Gone are in-depth technical analyses. Gone are the awesome drawings discussed above.

Seems all we have left these days is a glossy sales brochure at times.

I’m exaggerating, its not that bad. but i really think Air International used to be better when it was less glossy and more in-depth.

I think the pattern here is that all three of your accounts describe Continuous-Wave illumination.

With more modern missiles such as R-77 and AMRAAM that use a data link, the doppler notch is less effective, but i might be wrong.

Fast accurate roll control can really make a difference in a guns dogfight. Throw a Fw-190 against say a P-47 or even a Spitfire in a sim and see how the fact that it rolls so fast enables it to get out of harms way time after time. Good roll control is a winner in close dogfights.

So yea, thats good to see 😀

    Turkish F-16 dogfighting with a… dishwasher!!! 🙂

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zV2feLD7ajM&feature=player_embedded#!

That is honest-to-god awesome. So much better than the dubbed over fawny french housewife we get in such commercials.

First: it has awesome footage of the F-16 whipping around the countryside. 😎

Second: It shows the mother and the kid as resourceful, empowered individuals, making them great role models (unlike the oh look how white my hubbies underwear has become model) 🙂

    Third: she be hawt :diablo:

I think its a really smart design, like a manned predator drone. It can carry two crew, can’t it? I hope it does well.

Perhaps institutions like law enforcement, border patrol, forest watch etcetera could use these things as well. It must be far cheaper per flight hour than a helicopter!

Thanks. Is that text machine translated? Wikipedia has the same info, but doesnt give credible reference sources. Still, the story makes sense and is plausible.

I wonder what were the first two choices for F-4G replacement. F-15G? and the 2nd?

Indian AF: wanted Viggen, US said no.

interesting. do you have some online resources corroborating that? i’d be keen to see that.

I’m amazed you think an aviation enthousiast forum is a proper place to pitch your idea. I hardly think any of the great movers and shakers in the bussiness follow the petty bickerings that go on in a place like this.

Have you tried printing it all out and handing out copies at aviation bussiness conventions?

PAK-FA ?! Really ? Wow, this is getting interesting .:D

iirc the Su-35 was in the running against the F-15 for Korea’s earlier fighter competition. The Eagle won. (apparently because integration with current weapon stocks would be easier) Rafale and Eurofighter were also in the running.

They are operating a small squad of Russian kamov helix choppers for search and rescue. So they apparently have no qualms about using Russian equipment if it suits their needs.
