they track countries by IP Addr. perhaps their network of cache servers (akamai types) around the world arent setup for efficient hi-bandwidth transfer of video into some geographies. at home my IP addr is in India so I get same message, at work I get IP addrs allocated from a US pool and it works fine. even when using VPN from home 😀

I thought the PAFA was around mtow 24 tons with twin AL-41Fx engines and a single engine bird would be in 18t Mtow (10 empty + 4 fuel + 4 munitions) range.

thats because Zorya was the fUssr’s supplier for marine engines and has a wide range. they also supplied the delhi class engines.

now GE 2500 turbines were procured for P17 ships, but with Russian built ships GE is not a choice.

IAF is almost certain to sign on to the 1-engined version of 5th gen fighter. question is will it go with Mikoyan or Sukhoi ? Sukhoi has the 2-engine heavy pakfa so the mikoyan design is not going to be a smaller clone, perhaps based on their LFI 1.42 design ?

looks like typhoon it does! 😀

wake homing torpedoes like the big Ru 26″ Type65 use a optical sensor to look up and sense the disturbed optical pattern caused by a ships normal wake. the kind of bubbles this system generates looks like a red rag to a very angry bull.

I guess ideal strategy is fire a couple of normal deep running sound/MAD fused torps to
act as ‘beaters’ and force ships to turn the bubbles on, then release the bigstick wake homers 😀

USN has experimented with CH53 helos hovering over a ships wake then slowly moving
on another line creating its own wake to decoy wake homers. dont know how successful that strategy is considered.

    > can anyone draw up a scenario …

I canott, but then its only thursday and Im not drunk enough yet. maybe if the PRC takes over bases in Myanmar AND decides to take a stab at andaman islands as the next step.

but then we would bomb the crap out of myanmar as a punishment so doesnt sound realistic.

I really dont see a reason why GW2 visit should be linked to A3 testing. is it a “insult” to the big man if the country he is visiting tests its stuff ? I believe PRC rubbed it in by testing a DF-31 *during* one of the GW2 visits 😀

enough waffling and trying to be apologetic about power – if it is ready test it, else dont talk.

the bastion being the white sea , and a super strong ASW patrol at the mouth I dont see how USN subs could ever penetrate there and make it out alive.

the DeltaIV and Taifuns could just laze around below the ice floes there and unleash their fury if need be ?

the M-55 recon version appears a better fit if it all they want a manned capability.

the only use I can think of for a Mig31 is a anti-awacs scarecrow flying at 60,000ft with 6 AAMs and mach2.2 surging to mach2.6 before releasing some large missile like AA-9.
