Not an army of art-deco robots, but cowling cooling-gill opening linkages ( They probably have a better name, but thats the best I can do)

From my aeromodelling days, I’d have referred to them as clevises – the sort of thing that attaches to a control horn. They’ve probably got another name in a full-size application.

It’s not my own Image. Sadly I don’t know when it was taken:(

I don’t know where you got the impression that this photo was taken in Australia from. That’s at Yeovilton, I should know, I was there at the time and Lee took the shot with my camera.

Whilst the ‘SPAD’ may look new it will never look good.

The real thing looks so much better

I think that I live in the real world.

Says the man who was carping on about the viability of a metal Mosquito? You silly, silly man.

Peter, if you have a play with the colour balance your shot from Yeovilton can look more natural.

Here’s the result from a few clicks of the mouse.

It swings both ways, Mike. Take the example of the Beaufighter that was swapped for a Bolingbroke from Rockcliffe. Show the punter a complete Beaufighter and then ship it with bare firewalls.

However, that Mustang is as rough as a bear’s ****.
