Three flew in the race, two were built afterwards.

G-ACSS looked rather lovely in the hangar this afternoon.

So, don’t fly it because it might crash? That doesn’t allow much of any interest to leave the ground, does it?

My Uncle witnessed 5 DH88 comets together – but he was too young to appreciate it. He was only 3 at Mildenhall in 1934!

He did very well then. There were only three of them there.

David, thanks to the Collection, people are able to appreciate the sights, sounds and smells of some rare and in many cases unique aeroplanes a few generations beyond their period of regular use. The Shuttleworth Trust’s aim is to educate through use, it’d be difficult to do that properly without flying and it delights quite a few people in the process.

The Comet’s a long way from being a time capsule.

Regards combat aircraft -we use them in the role they were designed for . We maintain them and use them. When they have served their purpose they will be grounded -thats a part of aviation.

You don’t want to go flying those combat aeroplanes. People shoot at them when you do that.

That’s the one that’s recently gone on the register, do catch up! Why don’t you do some reading on the subject to fill in the gaps in your knowledge?

Adler Tag, he chose to retire from flying (not just Shuttleworth flying), there was no “had to” about it.
