Thinking of getting a Stirling full size Airfix kit.;) Come on mr May have a chat with Airfix:diablo:
I just thought I would post in this thread a comment about the shipwrecks in Truk lagoon Or even the shipwrecks off the D-Day beaches and how they have been ravaged by trophy hunters and some museums after discovery, Once a wreck has been found and recorded unfortunately it is open to being attacked by those who don’t care about who or what is in a wreck. It’s more just about getting something out to say they have been there. This is what I fear could happen here now.
I would personally prefer to see these remains being in a proper grave than have the undignified end of being scattered about the lake bed by thieves removing bits.
This is not in any way suggesting that the original search was for ant other reason than has been already posted. I have visited crash sites over the years and have noted how bits of the crashed aircraft/sunken ship/battlefield relic seem to disappear which I fear to a certain extent is what will happen here now. Again just my personal views.
What! you mean the mole grips on the fuel selector were not standard?
Close i think it was because the fuel selector had been moved to somewhere behind the pilot’s seat for some reason
I really enjoyed it. Lets agree it has started a debate on here about model kits it has also done a practical and shown what teamwork can do, Also shown how a production line works. All good learning for children.
I am thinking if there is going to be more of these lightweight 1:1 spitfire kits produced, perhaps a cheap way for someone to get a full sized spitfire to display. Would there be a market for them. Apart from film props might they be too fragile to exhibit?
I’m sure you’d all love leafing through the hundreds of viagra / tool enlargement / porn / dodgy software / etc etc bans in order to see the one or two members of any substance whatsoever who get banned each year.Haven’t you got enough stickies already?
Do you really think that all we mods do is thwart good honest contributors in their desire to post here?

No longer pissed off. (But could be – don’t push me right now – ok?)
Ah Sorry it seems i have struck a nerve, I talked about being treat as an adult, and your reply is in red, Strange. Perhaps I shouldn’t suggest anything anymore. The suggestion was nothing more than what i would personally like. As peter has replied it is a negative anyway. Thanks

I would personally like to see a banned/suspended sticky thread where the reasons why any members who get banned/suspended could be published. It seems at the moment there is no way of telling who is banned and who is not. It’s open and fair that we should see these reasons,(Not the particular details of), perhaps as a warning to us that others do get banned or suspended for their actions, also in all other things in life we know why we get punished/fined/imprisoned so is it not unreasonable to ask for more openness and to be treat more like adults from key? Incidentally I’m staying as it’s still the best aviation forum I go on

Personaly I’m thinking it’s some sort of knee jerk reaction to the questions he quite rightfully asked in the Farley thread, nothing to do with e-bay at all.

How weird is that.
Whilst reading this thread, received a phone call to trailer a Hurricane from Liverpool down to Cornwall tomorrow. Its the last replica from the BoB film (apparently) I guess I will drive up tomorrow and come back with Hurricane on Saturday……………give us a wave!!Baz
Is it for your garden my friend?
Fantastic news, and a worthy cause to give to. Now is there someone in France with some spare cash looking for something similar to give to?
Heads up .To add the b17 collision dig on Reedham marshes is being repeated tomorrow(Thursday 12th) and Friday 13th on time team
Time Team has certainly conducted a dig on two American aircraft that collided over the UK. The dig was initially broadcast a couple of years ago (if memory serves correctly) and re-run earlier this year.
Apologies for not remembering the type of aircraft (someone will know), other than the fact that they were twin-engined and cockpit visibility was (very) restricted by the wings and engines.
The crews’ bodies were recovered at the time of the accident so in this instance the war grave aspect did not come into the equation.

Wasn’t one destroyed in a fire at Le Bourget in the early 1990’s?
