It’s the wonders of competition! Airbus pushed Boeing to upgrade the 747, and now Boeing is pushing Airbus to to upgrade the A330.

So long as both manufacturers have decent sales of their new products, then the pushing ahead will carry on and we’ll continue to leap forward.

I look foward to the next generation of 737s and A320s, when the two companies lock horns in that market in about 8-10 years. πŸ™‚

Not to start another A v. B war but I can’t think why anyone in their right mind would want to acquire new 767s now… If it wasn’t for the tanker deal that Boeing might get from the USAF, the 767 line would be closing very soon indeed.

I suspect the A330 is all around a more efficient a/c- certainly more modern and spacious- and then there is the 7e7.

That’s a nice pic as well!

Do you reckon it was taken in the air?

I’ve flown with them a few times many years ago. For what I remember the staff were helpful and the a/c fairly well maintained. They’ve been around for quite a while now and established themselves as one of the main airlines of Spain- I daresay the second biggest after IB, though I don’t know for sure.

I’ve seen the 3 727s parked at Jordan’s Queen Alia international and they don’t look too bad at all. Though all that exposure and sand for 12 years plus cannot be good news…

Are those VS 742s just mothballed or are they going to be scrapped?

I know that they run the airline, not me, and that they know what they’re doing best, but what is the point of mothballing airplanes when finances are no problem and you’re buying new planes? Why not sell or lease the planes if you don’t have further use for them, or keep them in service and thus avoid having to buy two extra a/c for your expansion plans?

And the 777, launched and produced after the A340, is nearing 500 BUILT πŸ˜€

Though one could get anal and add the 473 orders of the A343 to date, since the 777 was created to compete against both Airbus products πŸ˜‰

For such a dissapointing aircraft the A340 has done quite well… 352 orders and no signs of stopping…

Well in fact (according to that website) in the case of T5 it’s called “Open Site”. πŸ˜€

    Great pics!

Good camera the Coolpix. I haven’t used a 3500 but we have a 5000 and a 8700. They both produce superb shots. The 8700 in particular with its monster 8.0 megapixel capability returns breath-taking shots.

Don’t think my boss would appreciate it much if it took it on holiday, or even on my day off for some plane snapping though…

On every single flight I’ve been to the flight attendants have pointed out the emergency exits during the safety demo. I’d imagine this is a legal requirement to all airlines.

I try to at least watch them and pretend to be interested during the demo- I think it’s a bit rude if everyone’s reading the paper or looking out of the window while the poor people demonstrate the use of a lifejacket.

Girl in our school from London, who incidentally was a complete bi*ch and failed her GCSEs (suppose you could say she went under lol) was called Sabena.

Like David Beckham’s son, was she named after the place where she was concieved? πŸ˜€

Still, better ‘Sabena’ than ‘B737-229Adv’ for a name I guess…
