Would this be the first ‘loco’ long haul service?
I wonder how it’ll work… No frills is okay for 2 hours or so but you ought to offer something on long flights.
Imagine a 10-hour stretch with Ryanair 😮
Strangely I feel women would be most offended by the 6th one… 😉
Well as a Spaniard I wish Iberia would revamp its livery. I find it terribly dated…
I’d agree with others that the job over the front/top is a bit in your face, but I very much like the tails! 😀
Shame. The 757 is in my opinion the best-looking Boeing flying today. I believe I might be flying one this week for the first time when I go to Menorca with Thompson, and I look forward to it.
Will the a/c return empty?
Perhaps BA will offer very cheap one-way tickets to London to make something out of the return leg… 😉
I was going to say the same… Surely an illegal move!
I don’t know if people are normally let off the plane at stops, but surely going for a real walk into a terminal during a stopover is much better health-wise than doing a 23-hour stretch inside an a/c…
I agree. The 500 is a niche aircraft that complements the product line but it won’t be needed by that many airlines. A similar fate might well await the 772LR.
With (I think) 100 firm orders plus options since its recent launch I’d say the 600 is doing extremely well.
Thanks!
Is the A300/A310 line still open? I see from A’s website that there are still 63 outstanding deliveries.
First off, I not trying to “tarnish” either product. However, my friend has said that the Airbus A340-600 is alot more refined – more perfect shall we say, and thus predictable and boring. Trying to explain this as best I can. Whereas, the earlier A340-300’s were underpowered, a bit more fun and exciting.
But then, for the great majority of passengers (the ones whose opinions count most to the airlines), the more predictable and boring a flight is, the better. 😉
At the end of the day airlines will buy the products that are the more reliable and liked by the passengers- if passengers are to have any preference on the matter- regardless of whether some pilots would rather fly another model instead.
With regard to the aesthetics of the A346, I think it looks superb! The length, the size of the engines, the lot! The A343’s engines have always seem a bit to small on the eye to me- though from my own experience as a pax there was power aplenty when power was needed during an aborted landing.
Anyway, I don’t know how old the news are but according to someone off a.net the undisclosed customer that had 3 more A346 on order has turned out to be IB.
Considering how unhappy all the airlines were said to be about the A346, they can’t stop themselves ordering more of them. The fools! 😀 😉
How many flight engineers/navigators are required for this a/c? There seems to be a good number of workstations in the cockpit…
Generally speaking there’s only one thing more expensive than airports: motorway service areas.
At least in airports there’s something interesting to look at, and alcohol aplenty! Motorway service areas on the other hand offer the biggest, most expensive pile of crap on earth…
But yes, airport food and drinks can be ridiculous.
To be honest I find Spanish airports the biggest rip off of them all- the bars and restaurants are expensive their offerings are not very good, but the ‘duty free’ shops in particular… what a rip off!!! Being Spanish I’m fully aware of the cost of things. When I see people paying on average 3 times as much for a chorizo or a piece of manchego cheese at the airport than it would cost on any given shop I truly despair…
Excellent news! A good day for Airbus.
Interesting that according to Branson “passenger preference” was a factor in choosing the A346 over the B777. Would this be regarding some people’s prererence to fly ‘4 engines for long haul’, or an specific head-to-head contest between the 346 and the 777?
