There was talk that she was so badly corroded that the only wagon she was leaving on was a scrap wagon, so, a very happy ending to say the least!!

I think Vulcan Love got quite a few bits and pieces. The cockpit had massive puncture holes in it after being ‘lifted’ off the wagon that got her there. On the subject of cockpits, Squadron Leader Hartley had sold XH537 and by the look of it XA903 & XH563 are up for sale too!!

just for a bit of fun… what in your opinion was the best of the beautiful V-bombers… personally i love all three, but if i had to choose.. it would be the Victor… i know they all had there good points but what was the most capable, and the most popular with there crews.. i would have thought there would have been some rivalry between Vulcan and Victor sqrudrons… 🙂

The Victor could fly higher, faster and with a bigger payload. They are fabulous looking things, especially from head on with that fantastic angled T tail on the back!! Sound nice too!! However, for me, the Tin Triangle….

Yeah, i’d have to agree with Phil’s response to be honest. I think after all David Walton has done for 558 in the past 13 years, purchase, roof over her head and following the proper RAF maintainance schedules for her, I think he’s done plenty. I think he invested just under half a million quid in her over this period of time (I stand to be corrected). 558 wouldn’t have got this far without his help. I think he’s totally justified to ask for rent IMO.
With regards to the difficult questions that need answering, I agree there are some. As for not responding to emails, that is just downright rude of them. Even if the answers weren’t forthcoming, they should be at least replying to you. 😡
