Regarding the lack of sponsorship. You only need 100 Companies or individuals to invest £5,000 each. That’s pocket money to an awful lot of Companies and to a fair number of individuals. Perhaps instead of asking a few for a lot of money they should ask a lot of Companies for considerably less.

Yep, they should. They should be expolring every single avenue with this. With regards to me, I have donated a lot and will continue to until we get a green or red light. Sadly, I can’t afford a loan as i’ve just got a house, but between £20-£50 a month, well….

But donating that £20 to the Vulcan project means it is £20 less petrol I have to get me to a place where I am actually achieving something. Where I don’t have to pay £50 to see the aircraft I am involved with. Where I feel involved and that my efforts are appreciated. I don’t contribute financially but physically. VTTS have ensured that is no longer possible.

But, if the really vocal supporters want to help, go ahead. Here’s an idea. Why don’t 20 of the most vociferous supporters go somewhere like Lombard Direct and each arrange a loan for £25,000. That generates your half a million pounds and you get to see a Vulcan fly. And even if the project fails it’s okay, because you’ll still get your money back.

Anyone of you willing to give it a go? XL391? Vulcan903?

I agree with you!! But for the sake of £20, which you’ll get back if it doesn’t succeed, just give it instead of discussing stuff we could do. The amount of time we have on this IS FINITE!! Events cost time to arrange, time we almost certainly don’t have….

Let’s all stop being so bloody defeatist!! There are certain aspects of the project that have to be kept in the dark, if you use your common sense, you’ll know which areas these are. Any donations recieved now are to be held in a bank account and will be returned to donators if it fails. A sponsor won’t be found while she is sitting on jacks in the hangar for exactly the same reason that people like you won’t give any money. We need to get her to the runway, she’ll attract a sponsor soon after that. Lets all dig deep and get her to the end of the runway!! Once she is a living, breathing Vulcan once again, a sponsor will be no problem, trust me!! Look at the Red Bull Sea Vixen, hugely impressive to watch and nice and noisy. Imagine the Vulcan, not just at airshows but on the way to and from airshows passing overhead at low level, all that noise, everyone will look up at her!! The best advertising hoarding money can buy!! As regards to her loosing the camo scheme, I couldn’t care if she was painted pink with green spots if it meant her in the sky again…
At the end, there are two options:

    1. Call it a day now and slag everyone at TVOC off for wasting theirs and everyone elses time and money over the last how many years

    or:

    2. Dig deep so that we can get over this last hurdle. To fall at this last fence would be an absolute tragedy after all the excellent and hard work put in by TVOC, VTTS and all the unpaid volunteers, not to mention all the people who, maybe like yourself, have donated already to this unique project. Lets make it all count. £500k is a lot of money, of that there is no doubt. Look at it another way: £500k into £20 is 25,000, the average gate for a small premiership/1st division club. Don’t go the match this week, miss it for once and give your money to ‘558, she’ll be much more entertaining!! Looking at it another way, you could easily spend £20 on a few lagers in the pub on a Saturday afternoon. This week, stay at home, just this once…

At the end of all this, if we are successful, you can look at her as she blasts your eardrums to bits as she powers skyward and smile in the knowledge that you helped to put her back where she belongs. If we fail, you get your £20 back to go nd console yourself in the boozer. Look at it that way and it doesn’t seem too much to give up does it??

That’s what I want to know – Cutting out all this bullsh*t, does £600k get her finished, complete and ready for flight? Its a question that needs answering ASAP…

I’ve seen it at the Goodwood Festival of Speed a couple of times, she is fantastic!! Always a spirited display by her pilot who, IIRC, is Brian Grant?

contact EMR (european Metal Recycling) Liverpool, Alexandra dock branch. Offer to buy the cockpit, its the only way now.

391 are you sure you went to alexandra dock? it’s seaforth that has the dock police, alexandra , is that not open to visit? (im not sure)

Definately Alexandra. Has the cockpit been fragged yet?

As I suspected the yard is totally unreachable from the road unless you have contacts with the port police. Managed to see the yard from a nearby garage with my binoculars but by the look of the scrap pile, she was long gone.

Could this really be the end to this long running sorry tale? 🙁

Yeah, that yard certainly are mega, mega strict. We’ve took a few motors down there in the past. The airframe went through there as well didn’t it?

My only connection with her is that I love Vulcans more than any other aircraft and she was the Vulcan that was closest to me, visited her loads, especially the last few years. I remember going into the cockpit as a wee lad literally a couple of months after she arrived. I just remember getting inside her by a hatch and inside it being virtually pitch black…

I’m gutted that its come to this as a few others are, but it has encouraged me to actively get involved in the preservation of these beasts. I have sent a few emails to various places and hopefully, someone will take up the offer…

I may see you down there tomorrow Peter, i’ll see how I feel though, one bout of carnage at Blackpool may have been enough for me to be honest…

If you do get any times, please post them here, I’ll check tomorrow morning.

    Regards

    Will
