Truly Excellent photos!! MORE, MORE!!!!!!
I would like to see an f1-11 before they bin em
When are they getting the axe? (literally)
😮
Corgi TSR.2 then please. And a Valiant ta. And a Sea Vixen. And a Lightning F.6. And T.4. And T.5. And a P.1B, P.1A, SB.5…
🙂 YES PLEASE 🙂
Has anyone built the airfix Vulcan? I’ve got one here but not took the plunge yet…
We’ve also missed the boat for the old F-104 now,:(
Have the Italians fully retired theirs now? What a beautiful aircraft they are. I was hoping to see them this year but if they have been fully retired… 🙁
RIP
Rest in Peace Gentlemen. 🙁 My thoughts are with all who knew these brave men.
Absolutely brilliant photos!! 😉
There may be 4 Olympus 301’s from a certain Vulcan shortly…
But, lets be honest, would you want scousers there with a passion for the Avro Vulcan and Concorde there? Let me know, i’d love to get involved! 😮
Will any F-14’s be kept flying when they reach retirement? As a young lad, watching the start of Top Gun, the calm music, people walking across the deck of the carrier, until an F-14 winds on full power before being launched off deck, and the music changes…. Watch the start, you’ll know what I mean. What a beautiful aircraft! The view from the rear 3/4 with afterburners ablaze…. A truly beautiful sight. Have any ever been to RIAT? If not, WHY NOT?
Met SCG at RIAT 04. Scary B*stards. Sign this or may Our Lord do….unforseen things to you….etc. Concorde ain’t ever flying again. Gutted, but the truth, and no pieces of paper are ever gonna change that. 🙁
Did you dream this? If not, come on gents, someone got pictures of this!!! Absolutely not to be missed!!! I wouldn’t have missed it, if i’d been old enough…. 🙁
If it has to be moved from Woodford then Elvington would be better than Manchester’s viewing park.
I think i’d have to agree with you there. I truly fear for G-BOAC’s (Concorde’s) welfare at that park. She needs covering up…
Good to see that 603’s engine are all serviceable!
😀
You could visit XM603 on Tuedays by telephoning Woodford and asking for Avro Heritage. I did this but, unfortunately, at the wrong time as the new Nimrod programme was in full swing at the time with engine ground runs etc. The tour of the heritage centre on its own was tremendous, I can’t remember the old timers name that showed me around the place. The wind tunnel models of the Vulcan and the skybolts were great! I remember looking at a picture of six or seven Lancs out on the airfield and underneath marked on a brass plaque was ‘Avro Lancaster – One Day’s Production’…. Brilliant!
Woodfords future is uncertain at the moment, rumours were that it was closing after the Nimrod development programme. With regards to ‘603, I telephoned again over the summer for another visit which was granted and then rebuffed the next day when I was told that an urgent meeting was being held about ‘603. What that was about is anyone’s guess, I’m sure the rumour merchants could have a field day. I have heard the MAN viewing park and scrap merchant rumours a few times too.
With regards to her taxying again, am I mistaken in saying that she needs an engine? I’m sure they were having problems with seizure in one of the 301’s?
🙁 Oh Right…
