….and these come from Mark Styling’s ‘Corsair aces of WII’, see how they match up…

Can you do the 3D from photos? Might be better able to help you there….even more so after the 5th of June when I get back from the Corsair Gathering!

Ummm…as far as which is the most accurate, it would be hard to tell you that, but I would trust the Vought specs a LOT more than I would the Japanese specs, I reckon…lemme see if I have anything that would help in my collection….

I wondered about that myself, looking at the arrangement….the belly of the plane just rests on the dolly, unless the dolly folds forward during launching to allow the tail wheel/aft fuselage to clear, I would think the tail wheel would go bye bye…as Turbo said, possibly doing damage to the tail section!

Anyone have any further observations on how all this worked?

God I’m jealous….I LOVE Old Warden…still a month to go till my first show (Corsair Gathering in CT)…then some vacation in and around Washington DC (Udvar Hazy and the other air museum), the USS New Jersey, and then off to Pittsburgh to see family…looking forward to it…

    But really miss Old Warden…

A Mustang without a Merlin, ie an Allison engine powering it? An improved P-40…end of story.

It’s a great flick, especially the Batman-like little gadgets attached to the P-40…however, I got the impression it was a post WWII flick (or supposed to be) because Jude Law’s character had flown in the Flying Tigers with his British friend Frankie…hence the souped up P-40 which he kept from his days in the service…but anyway…good flick, very much ‘Rocketeer’ like in its fun…

“Spotty little American boys”?….I guess I’m lucky I don’t even really know what that means or I would throw about accusations of turning this into an anti-American rivalry/slander thread instead of the AVIATION THEMED thread it is supposed to be, or WAS…

Hmmm…just like I could do if someone asked me the WWII combat models of F4U Corsair….but having only a vague inkling of how many models of Spits there are and which ones served in WWII, i need some help!

Kudos to you sir, for getting yourself down from a predicament in which many others would most likely have perished! One heck of a story for when you’re sitting around the campfire with your kids…
