I have always been very curious to know how the Spitfires and Hurricanes of the Far East AF did against Japanese aircraft….I have heard mixed results, that the Spittys and Hurris were no match for the Zero and such, and then I’ve heard the reverse….I’d love to know the truth….
I’d also pay good money to know more about Gen. George Kenney’s 5th air force and the B-25’s they modified with 75mm cannons, and tons of .50 cal machine guns, skip bombing tactics and techniques, parafrag attacks…some incredible stuff there, and only one or two books on it!
Let me think more about it…I might come up with something else…

Breckenridge, Texas airshow, all years (went to four of them)…always a ball, got air to air with 2 Corsairs and a Mustang, P-40, Grumman Albatross, 3 Wildcats, T-6’s, BT-13’s….it was an air to air paradise, and a great party, too. You could stand on the side of the runway as the planes took off until the FAA got involved, even then you were only 50 feet away while they came and went….always a good show, nice folks….Howard Pardue was always fun to watch, he danced with my partner’s daughter on numerous occasions….great guy.
I miss that show. This Corsair shot is from there….

Great photos, folks….that’s how the Concorde SHOULD have been sent out, WITH HONOR….
I read the other day where one of the nose cones has sold at auction for over $500,000!

Close….that’s a HELLCAT and a Corsair….I meant the ones with the Wildcat and the Corsair and the Wildcat on the ramp by itself (the one with the allied landing stripes)….never mind. Youc an never shoot a bad picture of a Corsair in my opinion….
What else have I got….the Albatross was shot at Breckenridge TX back in 1995, with Ted Foran’s T-6 chasing it….have some others, too….let’s see what I find…..How about one of Chris Jacobsen’s Embassy Staggerwing at Aspen?

Call me old fashioned, but I still prefer my Canon EOS Rebel II autofocus and some good 100 speed film, it’s what I’ve been using for years and it’s what I’ll continue using for the present….I maintain that all photos are digital once you use your scanner to put them on the computer….I have a 75 to 300 Tamron 4.5 lens and a 35-70 zoom Canon lens for air to air work and am considering an 18-35 lens for some special shots…I use the slower film for bigger enlargements (you should see my walls) of all the warbirds and shows I’ve shot….
As far as as your photographic capabilities, I think they’re wonderful, just a little more practice at centering the shot (the Corsair/Wilcat shot was just a hair out of center) but good stuff…loved the Wildcat shot on the ramp at Yeovilton, great detail and the Wildcat looks so GOOD in those colours! Keep it up, keep practicing…I started 15 years ago photographing warbirds with a manual Ricoh KR-30 and just progressed from there.

How about a new build FW 190 or P-38 Lightning, both of which we’re supposed to be seeing in the UK next year? Plus, I’d like the Chino gang to send something unusual to the UK next year for Legends, something like the Dauntless or the Razor back Jug…whaddya think?

I was dissappointed…I thought it would end in a more spectaular fashion…good effects, though. Money better spent on ‘School of Rock’ with Jack Black, no one I know has NOT liked that movie…it is funny!
Looking forward immensely to Lord of the Rings 3, this is the trilogy to beat as far as I’m concerned.

I hear you….I had a fairly lame season, a show in Colorado Springs that was a bust, a fairly decent Longmont fly-in, then a trip to Oshkosh which was great…but that was it….a planned trip to Reno never materialized due to lack of funds, so the season just kind of ended with a whimper….looks like it’s more airshow videos and checking this site to see what the latest is from the warbird world…probably won’t have an event until the Snowbusters pancake fly-in here in Greeley in March, and that’s always iffy…hence the ‘snow’ part…
Y’all are all invited, you know….warbirds preferred….Bring your appetite, hot coffee included…

K…let’s see if this works….looks like it will….there should be a small Corsair by my screen name…still have’nt figured how to put in the tagline ‘Corsair Fanatic’ above the photo, but this’ll do…

I was riding around in my truck at work yesterday morning when we passed a school, and all the kids were outside holding up their own hand drawn ‘Thank You’ signs for all the veterans, and towards the end of the block there was the school band playing patriotic songs while kids nearby waved flags….VERY cool, nothing I’d seen before matched it….the vets had to have loved it, I know I did (ex Coast Guard)….later in the day we got buzzed by two Colorado ANG F-16’s that flew right over the Memorial to the Wars here in Greeley….
Semper Paratus,

Great shots and suggestions, folks, much appreciated….looks like I should have been on this forum all along, things get DONE here, no dawdling around like on some other sites. Damien, the computer I use from home has no printer on it right now, but I know where I can use a printer, so send the 2Mb photo and I’ll print it when I get a chance….everyone else, your help was appreciated….looks like I need to get some bits for my computer, a printer and some cords for my scanner so I can get THAT back up and running again, the pics I’m sending are just saved in my computer’s memory from a year or so ago ….

Damien-
Yours wins….exactly what i’m looking for…..the satellite photo was interesting, but cut of the ends of the field. So, whaddya want for a copy of that print? Name your plane…I’ll see if I have it air to air. What is that big long white building right out front of the superhangar? I don’t recall that being there…a new addition or a tent that thaey put up for a special event?

Actually, I think it was your dad’s photos of DX from the air that made me want a photo of it from the air….I seem to remember those pics…check his collection again and see what you come up with…I might be interested.
Good to be over here….things seem to happen quicker in this forum…tho I still check avi8 also….both are good, but this one makes photo downloading so simple….

Rats…..I saw ‘Big Guns’, I thought they were re-commissioning the Iowa class Battleships again…..
Someone SHOULD approach Branson, I think that would be a great idea…he might even go for it. When do we hear the Lottery commission’s answer? I would love to be able to think I might actually get to England again some day and be able to see this baby fly….
