Maybe it’s the same J. Fielding SACW in 1964 http://www.raf.mod.uk/rafathletics/rafcms/mediafiles/7E2A3DE6_5056_A318_A86A0C42168E9F08.pdf
Long time ago, well over a year anyway, there was a dedicated Percival site recording all Percival types and survivors. Since that time, it has disappeared and been replaced by Chinese writing which I am sure is not related to Percival! Does anyone have a record of the old web site or contact for the webmaster? (Or be willing to start a replacement site?! )
Michael, if you find the site again – please let me know! thanks!

Maybe an explanation for “cloud strata” is
“Stratocumulus (Sc): A layer of cloud that can sometimes block the sun. It looks like a thick white blanket of stretched out cotton.”
“strato, which means layer”

Could that second numeral be a “7” rather than a “1” – did 7s have a vertical section at the bottom at that time?
Roger Smith.

On this website you can find K2196 under RAF College:
Bulldog IIA – K1693, K2166, K2195, K2196, K2212, K2213, K2862, K2948, K2950, K2951
Could that second numeral be a “7” rather than a “1” – did 7s have a vertical section at the bottom at that time?
It’s just that the space between what might be a “1” and the “9” seems greater than the space between the “9” and the “6”.Roger Smith.
K2796 was a Vickers Victoria V.
I’ve found no Bristol Bulldog with a Kx796 ending, these were the K-serials:
1079-1101
1603-1694
2135-2234 K2196
2476-2495
2859-2872
2946-2963
3170-3186
3504-3513
3923-3953
4189
4292
4566-4576 (TM)
and some with J-serials
9480
9567-9590

Please forgive me a tangential post, but is their any connection between Henri Biard and the name of the airport at Poitiers? Maybe there’s not and the common name is a mere geographical coincidence.
“Biard is a commune in the Vienne department in the Poitou-Charentes region in western France, in the Boivre valley.
A suburb of Poitiers, Biard gives its name to the Poitiers-Biard Airport, located 2 km west of the city.”
