Sounds like I should consider continuing my IMC at Cranfield. Tis only a quick dash down the M1 for me.
I can make out the Javelin and Lightning, but what is the high-wing twin-engine to the right of centre?
If someone were to PM “Ben Twings” (Mark Albery) on forums.flyer.co.uk, he would tell you if the air day is on or not. Mark is a former RR employee and current flying instructor at Hucknall.
The website is not working this evening 🙁
As MAM’s popularity continues to grow, it is going to be around for a very long time
According to a pulled thread I saw the other day, may be not 😮
Hi Pete, I just Googled “Flight Test Establishment hucknall”. Take a look at the results. Notable hits are:
http://www.rolls-royce.com/history/heritage/offices/hucknall.jsp and
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/g6nhy.uk/rolls.htm – this one is quite descriptive
You lot are pulling my plonker! 🙂 🙂
Please see attached PDF of Hucknall noting the current locations of the engine test bed, two grass runways and the latter’s lengths. Certainly longer than Shuttleworth!
they have that mast rather stupidly stuck in the middle of the original runway
That happens to be a jet engine test bed that runs during the week! Anyway where else can I go in my light aircraft, do a stack of circuits and get a cuppa for a fiver? 😀
Wheres Hairyplane ? Time to get the cheque book out!
A monarch and a falcon, think i might die and go to heaven!
Surely BA arent going to lob money at maintaining airliners at EF, if, as rumours abound, they are not going to on the BA collection at Cosford?
TT
Phwoar Ben, up frock a plenty!
I’ll mail him now

Reported to be on a strip at Norton near Daventry after leaving Sywell 27.4.05
Robert
Nope not gone to Aus. Chris wants to sell her here and was on e-bay recently. Last time I looked (about a month or so) RB was still outside on the strip next to us at Norton.
I was on that list, but on the day it was not to be 😉
At least its not being done during Summer, like ours was! I think if you put it in a busy shop, project management goes to pot and this affects the completion date.
I think an executive decision needs to be made as to where and possibly when. The Maule is in for annual from the 23rd March to 3rd April, but I can still book the 172. Can we agree on a date when we can all make it? Say 1st or 2nd April?
Hey, when will the musuem open again? Probably worth an outing to our second nearest airfield 😉
I’m out anyway – the Colt’s on annual and Trinny is off elsewhere.
Is it worth it given two fine cohorts will not be in attendance?
Apologoes for reviving an old thread. I visited Derby Eggington last Sunday. Some blrub here: http://www.bizbuzzmedia.com/blogs/plog_blog/archive/2006/03/08/1485.aspx
Dug a photo out of the archive, taken at Mildenhall in 1934 pre-race. The archive is coming along nicely by the way and will soon be available on-line.
