5 March 2006:
Leicester still £1.30/litre.
A few miles north with a smaller operation and a portable bowser, Derby has £1.15/litre.
I thought that also. So Sundays are probably better.
Who wants Norwich, Wolverhampton or Elvington next?
Got a direct link to the photo?
I will ring Elvington Park and see if there are any times/dates there are unsuitable with their event diary.
25th? So you want to get up there and be done by 3pm?
Planes? HM Government messing round with carpentry are they? 😉
I saw that meeting online. Who? Probably no one we have ever heard of!
Wolverhampton is fine (obviously can’t tempt you to any real cross-country flying yet Bluey!) The food was OK-ish but nothing special the last time I went there.
Did you have anywhere else in mind that is a bit more cross-country? Leicester’s food is not that great either 😉
Steve, not all of us read TP! 😀
Bluey, Anywhere with 1000m or thereabouts of reasonable quality tarmac would do the job nicely for me. Much less than that, and I would be forced to resort to a piston-powered beastie. Perhaps you might even get it up yourself for the next one?
I can get it up without the aid of the good Doctor or one of his blue pills 😉 Just need lighter winds or failing that something more east-west.
There is now a Plan B where I can hire another sort of Rocket from Coventry.
The ‘Green (Wolverhampton) would suit as it has two runways with lengths greater than 1000m. Given it still retains the classic “A” design layout, it should be also suitable like Leicester to tailwheelers requiring something more into-wind.
I would like though someone to confirm that the Spaceport concept is dead and the eatery is okay. I was surprised when someone at the flying club last week said they had been to ‘Green the other week and it was okay.
With that in place, could anyone suggest a date?
Where to next chief? Something with a JP-compatible runway?
I hear Halfpenny Green and Shobdon have half decent eateries.
Apart from Puffin, of course…a twin jet that lives there 😮
Turboprop! (King Air)
Well apart from the caption (doh).
This is the only patent filed by Larry Neal
Did Ken Wallis patent the design in the US? I suspect this is what this texan bloke has done. No where did he say he had invented it!
Wind right across the strip for us. 🙁
Weather for Sunday looks decent enough if a little windy from the NE.
Wonder what the state of the grass is like?
Kev, you’re such a unique character it is hard to miss you! Tell me where I wasn’t looking 😮
