That “weight” aiui is defined by an aircraft’s mtom=maximum takeoff mass, which for a B17 would include a full fuel, crew and bomb load.
EASA is the new aviation regulator in Europe where standards are set and adopted in each member country.
Skybolt knows more about this than I do.
The EASA regs based on MTOM are iirc in the process of being changed.
Bruce has just got command at Astraeus and my guess is he won’t throw that away, so even if feasible, I can’t see it being full-time.
Beautiful aeroplane. I had the privilege of landing at Manston just before the Dutch Connie was about to take off (when it was last in the UK – 5 yrs ago).
However what was she like to flying in as a passenger? I have heard tales of fish tailing (yaw). Those three tails seem to indicate an issue.
They’re there to fetch, carry, lift and wash your car DHE 🙂
Thanks for posting jackattack. Nice to see that you have one year on more BBMF metal in your hands.
Anything is possible these days given the e-bay effect.
Because they’re “chuffin ugly”, or something like that at least.
Almost Christmas innit? Alpha Fox is going red in order to detect Santa.
Wow this forum sometimes amazes you – thanks Mk1 🙂
The withdrawal of fixed-wing a/c by the US was iirc due to their use of high-time airframes converted to fire-fighting, then subsequently having wings “let-go” whilst in the process of tackling the fires.
I bet it’s difficult having to fly in the rising air that the fires create.
Seatbelts in light aircraft can be shocking in terms of provision and fixing. I wonder how many have succumb to a collision with the panel? My old Maule had lap straps fitted to the rear, a co-owner found them totally unsuitable for sitting his children in and for also placing a child safety seat
Incorporating “safety cell” principles into the aircraft design would be nice too. IIRC Diamond boast about this.
Too soon is it? I’ll leave this to your morals – for now. 🙂
Anyway, a Red Dak is bugging me. BAE? Raytheon? Is the radar capability being used again? Sky_High – should I or do I know you???
Rob, as with anything that is or was owned by Mr Collett, it happens when it happens 🙂 In the case of CF, we hear of it in the idea/evaluation phase. Whether or not it comes to fruition is another story.
Red ANAF – Is it going skiing with the British Antarctic Survey? 😀
I have heard rumours of something coming up… The 700 hrs (likely a requirement for carrying pax under JAR) puts me out – for now 🙁 Have CF managed to get their own Fug yet?
I flew in yesterday for a quick cuppa before closing time. I see the Shack has come outdoors again and the port wing tip seems to have been clipped. Can anyone say what’s going on?
