Four-page article dated 2006-06-20 about development of Chinese AAMs and SAMs.
For example, it claimed in the 1960s, China recovered an AIM-7C from a F-4B sank in the South China Sea, to examine its SARH technology.

Article dated 2006-06-15 about ROCAF Lieutenant Colonel Lin who defected to China in a F-5E Zhong Zheng, on 11 February 1989.
Interview dated 2000 summer.
Did ROCAF F-104’s ever perform any missions besides air defense? (Anyone got details about the 1967 shoot down of two PLAAF J-6’s by ROCAF F-104G’s?)

] Why lawn-darting F-104?
In Canada, Japan, Taiwan, and West Germany, its unofficial nicknames Flying Coffin and Widow Maker didn’t exactly inspire much confidence.
FYI, I’ve been reading some on-line Japanese government unclassified transcripts, from 1960s to now, WRT JASDF attritions.
] JASDF used both F4 and F104?
F-86 > F-104 > F-4 > F-15
? > F-1 > F-2
Just wondering:
I read from somewhere that in April 1968, a F-104 variant called CL1010-2 competed against the F-4E and Mirage F-1C for the JASDF F-X programme.
(Now we of course know the winner.)
Does anyone know the differences between the standard F-104 and the CL1010-2?
(I wonder how the lawn-darting F-104 could be improved?)

10 April 1963:
About 12:57, while flying, JASDF F-104J crashed in farm, about 300 m from south end of runway, at Chitose AB, Hokkaidou, during low altitude training.
2nd Koukuudan.
One pilot killed: Major Nishi Hikaru.
First F-104J accident of JASDF.
At 12:05, took off at Chitose AB. One of two for air combat training.
About 12:48, about 20 km southwest of Chitose AB, throttle lever was at maximum thrust position and could not move. Informed wingman and control tower to abort mission, and returned to base for straight-in emergency landing.
Flew at 6,000 feet, lower than standard 8,000 feet, turned at sharp angle for 60 degrees, and stalled.
About 12:57, tail hit ground, about 300 m from south end of runway, and skidded about 100 m.
Aircraft middle and rear parts broke.
Pilot did not eject and killed by impact.
Throttle might be stuck at maximum position because throttle control cable malfunctioned.
Stall might be caused by engine shutdown, to decelerate before emergency landing, but pilot could not or did not retract speed brake activated when aircraft decelerated and descended.
