Crashed into a building, caught fire, and caused traffic jam on road.
Pilot(s) ejected.
Three civilians wounded.
Initial reports claimed the aircraft was an helo.
] I wonder why the pilot didn’t eject…
Seriously, this reminds me of a similar JASDF F-2 crash, where the F-2 pilots didn’t eject, but survived the crash.
The published cause of the F-2 crash was the wires between the pitch rate sensor and the roll rate sensor at one end, and the flight control system at the other end, were switched.
Thus, just after the F-2 took off, when the pilots attempted to pitch up, the avionics thought the F-2 wasn’t pitching up fast enough, and over-activated the control surfaces to pitch up.
When the F-2 was pitching up too fast and too much, the pilots attempted to pitch down; the avionics thought the F-2 wasn’t pitching down fast enough, over-activated the control surfaces to pitch down, and the F-2 crashed onto the ground.
The pilots scrambled out of the cockpits, and survived.
Amen.
