Then, they ejected. Zhang successfully ejected 1.1 sec before Feng.
Feng ejected at 32 m and AOA -16 degrees, his chute didn’t open, and bought the farm. Crash site was 230 m from residential area with about 4,000 residents.
On 7 May 2010, Feng was posthumously awarded the title of “Revolution Martyr”. His funeral ceremony was at his home city Liao Cheng, Shan Dong Province, on 12 May 2010.

2:01 PM, after take-off, at about 6,000′ AGL, near-miss with a Britten-Norman BN-2B-26 Islander aerial photo plane, B-68802, of ROC Aviation Co Ltd (or “Da Peng Aviation” in Chinese).
http://www.aloha.com.tw/company/0/tradeinfo.asp?id=897348
Horizontal separation was 1.62 NM = about 3,000 m. Vertical separation was 400′ = about 133 m, less than the regulation 1,000′.
Civil aviation bureau said “near-miss” is defined as less than 500 m. The Da Peng plane was at correct altitude of 6,000′ and flight course.
The Da Peng plane, flown by two retired military pilots, was from Song Shan AP, Taipei, to Kao Hsiung (Gao Xiong), for an aerial photo sortie on the following day.
The civie pilots, without TCAS, were unaware of the near-miss, until the ATC asked if they saw a military plane, and they saw it at their right, 1 o’clock low.
After take-off, F-16 possibly flew too fast and high to 5,600′, instead of the cruising altitude of 4,000′ assigned by the ATC, and passed through Da Peng flight course from below. ATC warned F-16, and F-16 descended.
