21 January 2010:
Reportedly, ROCAF C-130 flew from Taiwan to Haiti, and refuelled in USA.
ROC MND (Ministry of National Defense) and MOFA (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) don’t confirm the report.
AIT (American Institute in Taiwan) claims it was a “Taiwanese transport plane”.
If true, this is the first time in 30+ years, a ROCAF plane crosses the Pacific and lands in the USA, after Taiwan and USA broke diplomatic relations.

“Eyewitness to history looks back”
Global Times, December 28, 2009
Heavy Rain and Warm Breeze (Jin Yu Xu Feng) by former State Councilor and Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan, is such a book, revealing many inside stories. The book is illustrated with more than 100 photos of China’s foreign policy highlights during Tang’s 10 years as a senior diplomat and eyewitness to history-in-the-making.
These historic events include his efforts to rebuild sensitive Sino-Japanese relations, his four visits to the United Nations to try to prevent the imminent Iraq War, Sino-Russian negotiations in the border dispute over Heixiazi Island, the 1999 bombing of the Chinese Embassy in Yugoslavia, and the China-US midair collision of two warplanes near Hainan Island in 2001.
] Luftwaffe F-104G 104, Royal Canadian CF-104D 770, and F-104J 501 (16-8501).
AFAIK, JASDF F-104J 26-8501 crashed on 19 October 1965.
ISTR the first digit in the S/N is the last digit of the year when the plane began to serve the JASDF.
Thus, this F-104J was possibly rolled out by its manufacturer in 1961, and was delivered, accepted, and re-numbered by the JASDF in 1962?
The photo was possibly taken in 1961 or 1962?

Fuji Heavy Industries continues to sue the JMOD for 35 bil Yen.
In 2001, after the JMOD ordered 62 AH-64D for the JGSDF, Fuji paid Boeing, 42 bil Yen of license production fee for all 62 heloes.
By 2007, after Fuji was contracted for 10 heloes, the JMOD reduced the order from 62 to 13.
The JMOD has paid Fuji, only 7 bil Yen.
The per-unit-cost surged from 6 bil Yen to 8.3 bil Yen.

AFAIK, Jap F-104s never left Japan. Maybe this photo was taken in the USA, when Jap F-104s retired and went home to the USA?

On second thought, the F-5A/B models remind me: some on-line hobby shops sell decal sheets for aircraft models; and if this is a perfect world, ROCAF F-5A/B decal sheets might be out there. Albeit for quick evidence only, not for photo proof.
