Y-12 as AEW and ASW planes on Chicom’s first aircraft carrier?

7 July 2009:
YANG Li Wei confirms Chicom’s looking for a few good women (amongst the PLAAF pilots?) to be trained into astronauts.
] most countries use MPA like orion and nimrod or helicopters or ships for launching antiship missiles not fighters.
Objection, Your Honour. 8D
IMO, MPAs are big, slow, and won’t fly NOE. Ships have the same problem with the radar horizon, unless she has an UAV or three to help with ASM terminal phase guidance.
For comparison, Japan’s neighbour, Taiwan uses F-16s to launch Harpoon ASMs. Back in the ’82 Operation Corporate, Argentine air- and ground-launched Exocet ASMs damaged/sank the Atlantic Conveyor, Glamorgan, and Sheffield.
Personally, I think ASW heloes launching ASMs is kind of dumb, as a helo is so slooow. 8D
] or may be it might have something to do with Japan being an island?
AFAIK, the last time Japan felt a real threat of an amphibious assault was just after the FSU MiG-25 landed at Hakodate AP, Hokkaidou, which proved the vulnerabilities of the JASDF F-4s and radar sites. While the Hokkaidou prefectural police (not the SDF) investigated the MiG-25, JASDF fighters with live missiles flew CAP around Hokkaidou, because Japan didn’t know whether the FSU would send bombers to attack the MiG-25, or insert commandoes to attack the MiG-25?
Belenko did it once, and his comrades could do it again. 8D
When the MiG-25 was disassembled and transported to Hyakuri AB, Ibaraki Prefecture, fighters with live missiles again escorted the transport plane. BTW, when I was playing Falcon 3.0 and its add-ons for about two years, real time; in the Hokkaidou theatre, I didn’t try very hard to win, although I usually disabled the Admiral Kuznetsov and the static SAM sites, probably without breaking the ROEs, on the first day of the campaign.
Besides, Japan controls/monitors the north and south entrances of the Sea of Japan. Hokkaidou and the Tsugaru Channel to the north, and Kyuushuu and Okinawa to the south.
Some sites mention the F-1 can carry 12 500-pounders, but I haven’t read any site that confirm the F-1 can carry smart bombs yet. Maybe I’m not trying/reading hard enough.

Evidently Cheng Du City, Si Chuan Province, soon after the 5.12 earthquake in 2008.

First, the rumour: in January 2009, a F-16B of 21st FS, 455th Composite Wing, ROCAF, based at Chia Yi AB, because its landing gear cracked, its landing was perilous. All F-16Bs were grounded, checked, and only 4-5 were available.
Second, the ROCAF clarified: one F-16B actually had landing gear problem. All F-16Bs were grounded, checked, and only one had that landing gear problem. The malfunctioned components were replaced, and sent to the US manufacturer for analysis.
