Last weekend, went to this “Light of grand country” event at a community hall in Hong Kong. Well, Kowloon to be exact.
On a screen beside a stage is a PLA propaganda, eh, advertisement film in endless loop.
The hall has three long rows of benches, and on the benches are pre-assembled models of PLA AFVs, PLAAF/PLAN jet fighters and transports, PLAN warships, Shen Zhou capsules on Chang Zheng rockets, &c.
By pre-assembled, I mean the pre-painted airplane models on stands that we see in Alibaba or other shopping Websites. The J-10 model by one company doesn’t have its cannon on its belly. Gnarly.
The J-10 model by another company has iron low-drag bombs at the two hard points beside the intake, where the LANTIRN pods would be on a F-16. Is this true?
If yes, maybe those hard points can carry only 250 kg bombs?

During the Cold War, before the advent of spy sateliites; CIA and USAF provided the ELINT aircraft, mechanics, and training, while the ROCAF provided the air base and 34th Squadron pilots who flew said ELINT aircraft behind the Bamboo Curtain into Commie China.

Last week, in Bei Jing, at the new CCTV HQ construction site, the under-construction TVCC building really caught fire, but the under-construction CCTV HQ building didn’t.
One fireman was martyred.
The above URLs are samples of Photoshopped photos by Commie Chinese Netters who dislike the arrogant, privileged, wealthy CCTV:
Some CCTV staff were having a party, and to mark the end of the Chinese New Year holidays, launched 2008 Olympics-level, Class A fireworks from an empty lot in the construction site, without acquiring the relevant licenses. The Bei Jing police went there to request the fireworks contractors present to abort the fireworks, but the contractors refused, and the cops didn’t enforce the law.
The fireworks ignited the TVCC building. Although the construction site is properly insured, the insurance company is trying very hard to weasel out of the contract, because the fireworks were illegal.

9 February 2009:
In the IDF, when the black box is powered, it records 15 minutes of flight data. After it records for 15 minutes, it overwrites the previous 15 minutes.
Its emergency battery is mainly for emitting its location signal after an accident. WRT the IDF that crashed on 20 October 2008, its black box recorded the 12 minutes 15 seconds before it lost electric power, but its last 2 minutes 45 seconds were blank.
WRT the IDF that crashed in April 2003, its black box had this same defect. The ROCAF confirmed this defect with the black boxes in the other IDFs stationed at CCK AB and Tai Nan AB, after their training flights.
This defect temporarily caused accident investigators to think the 20 October 2008 IDF distintegrated in the air.

Indian military collected ELINT from three PLAN warships in Indian Ocean.
For the past few years, Yahoo! Japan News regularly reports SDF intelligence leaks through Winny and similar file-sharing software, and the usual losses of USB memory fingers; in addition to drunk SDF soldiers harassing civilians. At least we should appreciate the transparency of the JMOD and SDF to the Japanese news media.
IMO, with JASDF F-15s replacing the F-4s in Okinawa, TDYs of USAF F-22s to Misawa AB in the north, and Kadena AB in the south, would be enough to deter the Chicom, DPRK, and Russia. After retiring the F-1s and F-4s, the JASDF is also decreasing the number of F-2s that replace them, under the lean and mean economy.

“Turkish pilot convicted over Aegean F-16 collision”
DATE:27/01/09
SOURCE:Flight International
By Tolga Ozbek
A court in Greece has convicted and sentenced a Turkish fighter pilot in absentia to four years in prison following a fatal crash over the Aegean Sea in May 2006.
The incident saw two Lockheed Martin F-16Cs collide during a mock dogfight. The Turkish pilot, First Lt Halil Ibrahim Ozdemir, ejected, but Greek air force pilot Costas Iliakis died when his aircraft crashed into Aegean.
ISTR the Soviets at least made a movie based on the Ka-50 Chernaya Akula (“Black Shark”)?
I assume they also made movies based on their jet fighters?
After all, even Commie China a few years ago, made a TV series titled (IIRC) Blue Shark based on the Su-27?
